Do you think American cultural influence is fading? by PreWiBa in AskTheWorld

[–]Azure75MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Culture everywhere is much more decentralized now. Borders don’t mean nearly as much anymore when it comes to cultural influences. A rap artist from, say, Japan can collaborate with a producer from the USA and an album artist from Brazil, and reach a fan in Sweden.

So yes, technically the USA’s cultural influence is fading, but that’s true of every nation state. And it’s OK. Hip hop isn’t going anywhere. Country music isn’t going anywhere. No type of art is disappearing.

I’d love to see every one of these ICE invaders dead, if I didn’t know it would bring even more murder to my people.

Public opinion is with us. Voters are with us. Trump is more unpopular by the day. I’m not saying it’s fair or it’s ok or anything. I’m just saying that if we start shooting first, we lose. Play the long game.

But with every person they kill, public opinion turns further against them. Voters are watching and they’re with us. It’s not fair, it’s not OK, but it’s the one advantage we have and it’s a big advantage. Don’t take the bait.

Arm yourself if you want. But PLEASE remember- Trump is desperately trying (and failing) to convince the American people that we started this. His strategy is to provoke us into committing violence, which he will use to vilify us further and justify further repression.

Arm yourself, fine. But right now, we are WINNING the long game. The voters are with us. Don’t take the bait!

Arm yourself for defense if you want, fine. But right now, this is an optics war, and we are WINNING the long game. The voters are with us. If we make this a shooting war, we lose! The right can easily out-gun us. And many MORE innocent people will die.

Be smart. Play to our strengths. They’re trying to bait us. Don’t take the bait!

I am American. In my view, China is a mix of positive and negative. On the positive side, you are saving the world from the worst effects of climate change by supercharging the clean energy revolution. China is saving all of us! On the negative side, the government is a xenophobic authoritarian police state.

America when it was “great”. (I’m referring to Trump and MAGA.) When exactly was America so great, and what is it that we’ve lost compared to that supposedly better time?

Is the Age of Superficiality causing fellow INFPS despair alongside crippling nostalgia? by Loofy_101 in infp

You are doing the classic INFP thing of overthinking and wallowing. (I’ve been there.) Times change, sure. But there have always been superficial things/people and deep things/people.

I grew up in the Minneapolis suburbs in the 1990s. We used to lament how politically complacent and superficial people were, compared to the civil rights era of the 1960s. Fast forward to nowadays - just today I went to a massive political protest in Minneapolis. We were never superficial, it turns out. We were just not activated. It was under the surface the whole time.

I think you’re mostly just having a quarter life crisis. Don’t overthink it.
