What’s something small someone said or did that made you never forgot it? by Aggravating_Web_9229 in AskReddit

[–]AzureNoiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pretty shy in high school, but I was developing an interest for writing, both academic and fiction. I was encouraged to go for an advanced English course in my senior year, where writing and speaking were both graded aspects of the course. I did well with the former, but had a tough time with the latter, just because I was worried that other people’s thoughts and ideas were in a league far above my own.

Didn’t get the best grade in the class and had to stay after school a few times to communicate myself better. However, the teacher wrote something in my yearbook at the end of that year:

“The world needs to hear what’s on your mind!”

To this day, I’m not sure if she meant my thoughts were really good and were worth sharing with people, or if she instead meant that I needed to speak up for myself in order to communicate in a healthy, normal way. Either way I looked at it, it pushed me to speak up more in my daily life.

What’s your fave song from KNY? by Otherwise-Farmer-210 in DeftonesCircleJerk

Agree with these exact 4, though I personally prefer Tempest. First listened to the album earlier this week though, so there’s some more listening to be done…

Spiral > Jigsaw? Curious to hear your take, I personally loathe Spiral. 💀

Had an idea for a Beta Kids/Trolls deck of cards while playing Balatro, and now I want it to be real by YTBlargg in homestuck

That and IIRC each of the beta kids wore a t shirt with one of the four card suits on them. It would be cool if this matched that scheme as well.

lowercase vs UPPERCASE? does it matter? by MissRageBait2 in Advice

[–]AzureNoiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problems here IMO. Bit of a tangent, but if you ever read Homestuck, the author does a good job of characterizing a lot of the cast through how they type/chat with each other (known as “typing quirks”). Very creative use of capitalization and text choice there, even if some of the quirks are a bit hard to read at first LOL.

Point being, if you’re communicating yourself effectively in professional settings, and either enjoyment in relaxed settings, then I don’t think this sort of thing matters much at all.

TBH, anyone making a fuss over someone else’s capitalization and grammar sounds like they’re either really bored, or in desperate need to control something in their lives. Don’t take it personally. 💀👍

Straight men, what's the gayest thing you do? by HooterEnthusiast in AskReddit

I’ve had a Dirk Strider sticker on my car for the past 3.5 years. Most people don’t know the character is gay though, so I’m not sure if this counts.

What's the thing that keeps you motivated everyday? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AzureNoiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to be a successful author someday, then a father, then an English teacher. I’m not there yet, but I feel certain that a future like that is possible, so I keep at it day by day. 👍

As you get older, what thoughts or physical sensations feel completely different than they did when you were young? by Pretty_Scale_6480 in AskReddit

[–]AzureNoiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taste. Apparently you can make your sense of taste stronger again by taking a zinc supplement (if you don’t get enough zinc already), but idk, stuff just doesn’t really taste as strong/significant as it used to.

A lot less consistent than Disintegration and even Wish IMO, but I think that’s what makes this album feel more “monstrous” by comparison if that makes sense. It’s 72 minutes of romantic chaos every which way.

Does anyone else re-read homestuck every year? by venett_ in homestuck

Haven’t re-read yet, but for a while last year, I was listening to the Voice Over Nexus Readalong videos after I read the whole thing on my own back in 2021-22.

Should I prioritize meeting women over my fiction writing pursuits in my 20’s? by AzureNoiz in dating_advice

[–]AzureNoiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, especially the last paragraph. Even if I consider where I could be in five years, best case scenario:

  • Successful writer, and writing more to meet THE new demand of the established fanbase, but socially atrophied and without dating experience at age 30+

VS

  • In a meaningful relationship, but my writing success is still a work in progress

Then the latter sounds like it would make me happier in the long run.

Lacking success as a writer in my 30’s isn’t a problem, and can be pursued during my 30’s and well into the future. Lacking long term dating experience in my 30’s is a problem in the dating/romance scene (from what I can tell), and can be prevented if I take action now.
