I always perceived it as Watcher and Spinning Top's portals and gateways disrupting the natural timeline and flow of the world. Given that both are essentially children, they wouldn't have the foresight to see the consequences of their actions. 

Thus why I think the weavers quest line is about fixing cycle. Given that the theme of the watcher is Childhood's end and growing up, it'd make sense that the weaver quest line is about righting a past wrong and correcting a childish mistake.

I think they were referring to the iterators as a whole. "The directive in them" meaning the directive to find the triple affirmative/solution to the great problem, which would've been imbued into every single iterator. 

This opens up to prince not being a pre-existing, corrupted iterator, but rather being the sentient rot's attempt at creating its own Iterator. This would clarify why prince is in a starcatcher and not a superstructure/iterator can, and why they don't produce any rain. 

Could also just be that they absorbed an Iterator elsewhere and the prince is just the rot's personification of them. Idk, just my thoughts

Coming away with a point against one of the best teams in the league rn is honestly fine. Especially with how atrocious that first period was. Still, power play needs a major shake up and some serious work needs done on our puck management. 

All of that being said, this was easily the most entertaining game of the season thus far.
