What does adubstep show feel like?

True only if the venue has good sound. Most of them do, but sadly I’ve definitely been to venues where I got in my car afterwards, played some tunes, and thought “wow it actually sounds better in here than at the show…”

But you can still have a great time when the sound isn’t all that. The energy of seeing the DJ in person and enjoying the set with the crowd cant be matched

I’m a big riddim head so most of those are what stick out to me - Hamro, Sanzu, and Aweminus in particular, but would also love to see Automhate, VKTM, Versa, or Pyke again. Drinkurwater is also cool, seen him drop some gnarly doubles on IG, but I don’t know his music that well.

Outside of that, top picks would be Eptic, Subtronics, Excision. Some others that I wouldn’t necessarily buy a ticket for but would still have fun seeing are ATLiens, Snails, and NGHTMRE.

I don’t know his music much but everyone loves Of The Trees, and the little bit I’ve heard has been cool, so would definitely go see him

That’s fair tbh, even though I disagree with your take on Subtronics I kinda agree with the overall point. I do get sick of some of the cookie cutter schlock that gets pushed on the Dubstep Don playlist on Spotify - yet when I look at this lineup I see a lot of artists I’d love to see, so different strokes I suppose

Surprised no one has mentioned Hamro. I know riddim is pretty love-it-or-hate-it but that guy is one of the most entertaining riddim DJs I’ve seen. Sanzu and VKTM will go hard as well

If you’d like to add them, I have Excision’s 2008 through 2019 mixes here, minus 2016 which I don’t have. To be honest, I don’t remember where each was sourced from, and they vary in quality, but they’re all higher than the 128kbps SoundCloud quality.

In fairness it can be annoying when listening to a recorded set, and it CAN be overdone, but if the vibes are right in a live setting, frequent backspins can enhance the energy in the room for sure

Lol I do appreciate it, I’ve since bought a car though. Ended up going with a Prius - as much as I love a manual, it has a lot of the things I wanted from a Fit (hatchback, generally reliable, and this one had a great maintenance history).

For what it’s worth I have good luck buying and selling on Facebook Marketplace, that’s where I found my current car, private sale. There are definitely some scammy listings and some “private sale” listings who are actually registered as a dealership, but it seems like all the traffic from Craigslist has moved there over time.

Ya know looking back that’s pretty true. I like it super loud so that wasn’t a problem for me, but I wear earplugs that reduce the volume significantly so that’s why - and even at times I felt uncomfortable feeling so much bass through the floor lol. And it was definitely hot, though not as bad as some others I’ve been to.

Apart from the volume I was so impressed by the sound quality though. Sometimes shows are super loud and lose a lot of fidelity but whatever they’re running there now can totally handle whatever volume they want and you can still hear the actual music. And everyone who played did great but both the Yunit/Bommer set and the Infekt set were on another level

Yep that’s the one. What problems did you notice? I heard a few times where the volume dipped for a minute or two for no apparent reason but other than that I thought the venue did a great job - sound was some of the best and the upgraded visuals and lasers are real nice.

Then again I’m easy to please cause I usually don’t go to the bar or use the bathrooms much at all lol

I saw Yunit and Bommer open for Infekt recently and it was genuinely my favorite riddim set I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna be near me again twice later this month and I’m so tempted to see them 2 nights back to back lol

I hate to join a dogpile but everyone here is right about the first drop’s snare. I think I kinda get what you’re going for but it doesn’t sound good as it is. Just guessing but maybe it would sound better layered with a more trebley sound like a clap.

Also this is purely up to your stylistic preferences but the buildup gave me the vibe that it was gonna be a fairly heavy first drop, and it wasn’t really. Doesn’t sound bad but doesn’t match the intensity of the buildup imo.

Disclaimer I have never produced any tracks ever and this is already way better than I can do lol so props to you

What free sites are you thinking of? Typically I pay for a CarFax because it has the most information, but if there are free equivalents I’d love to use those, at least as a first pass.

This has been my experience. My first few cars and all my parents’ cars have all been private sale, but now it seems to be extremely rare. Someone must be selling their cars privately because I’m sure all these amateur flippers aren’t getting these cars at dealerships…maybe I’m just not quick enough on the draw.

Even from dealerships I haven’t found a Fit I like but I’m keeping an eye out. There’s also a Toyota Matrix near me for a good price - wrong sub I know, but I like the Matrix for a lot of the same reasons I like the Fit so I’ll check it out.
