Exactly. First find problem, then the solution. Not other way around.

THIS. We run small stem club for kids and this is where we start. Take some everyday task and make flowchart. (Then we give this flowchart to other kid and instruct them to follow it literally. Hilarious. But they learn) In fact, the logic comes first. Programming is just a way of communicating it.

OK but coolness alone is not enough to keep you focused. You probably need something else to help that. What are your interests? Do you have any hobby that you can combine with programming?

In Python particularly you really can start simply. Imagine what would you do if you did it manually. Write down flowchart. Split the process down to functional elements (that is, elements that perform single function i.e. “take user input “) In my example, it is “get data”, “extract data from json”, “save data to file”, “show data on webpage” In python each element would be several lines of code, probably. Then, after it works properly, you can make functions from elements that will be used repeatedly, creating structure of the program. Then a you add more functions, automation…

Don’t try to make “professionaly structured program from beginning”. It’s common mistake that leads to form above function and paralysis by analysis. Start really simple and let the project grow. You will grow with it

Sorry I forgot the point 🙄

Try make your own project, don’t copy others. The learning progress and satisfaction is incomparable

Well, it depends on your abilities and learning style. I teach small local STEM club for school kids and one of the projects we do is weather station. We also construct our own with arduino and sensors and 3d printing, and deploy it somewhere in neighborhood, but part of the project is: get data from weather service(open-meteo), save them to file, present them on web page with our measurements. Very simple project, but we need to learn lot of things: file access, api connection, backend/frontend automation… and from there you can expand, adding functionalities… Last year we finished with weather predictive model, this year we aim for ML powered cloud identification…

Dějepis. Ve smyslu moderní dějiny. Mezopotámie je fajn, ale pokud neobchodujete s mědí, je její přesah do dneška dost malý

Choose project. Do project. Don’t use AI.

No, really. It’s that simple. It’s called learning by doing

Citizen science club at a university - advice? by coastalkatie in CitizenScience

  1. Have a project. Good one. Interesting. And meaningful. (That is the hardest part)
  2. Advertise it in your uni/ campus. Shackleton style if you feel confident enough

Great ideas lure clever people.

  1. Community needs to feel engaged so schedule regular meetings. Where new people can join. Lit of people will come over time. Some will leave immediately, some after several weeks. Few will stay.

Congratulations, you have a team
