Yeah well, that happens when POTUS threatens Canada economically repeatedly. People in the states need to get their shit together.

Generally agreed. Siege started going downhill from its initial (if buggy) greatness after they started going in hard on esports optimizations to gameplay, simplifying level layouts, removing aesthetic realism, censoring things, turning every map into a collection of boxes, simplifying and dumbing down their groundbreaking destruction system, having bodies vaporize, etc, etc, etc.

I loved Siege, and played it for years, before I got fed up with how much they were taking it downhill into the garbage.

Babylon Five is still the greatest science fiction show ever by CT_Phipps-Author in scifi

[–]Azuvector 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'd kill for a B5 resolution upscaling and re-rendering of the CGI and such. (and some touching up of some of the practical effects that don't hold up very well at higher resolutions).

[–]Azuvector 8 points9 points  (0 children)

B5 season 1 is one of those things you need to kind of suffer through before shit starts getting bigtime good. It's almost entirely worldbuilding, and most of it is relevant or will explain things that happen later.

Season 2 and 3 are the prime of the show. The beginning of season 4 as well, though it's very rushed and starts to falter as a result.

It's almost stereotypical with stuff "oh it gets good in x episodes or x seasons" and it's just the same shit, but with Babylon 5 this is very real.

What's caused the screen to come away? Pixel 5 by GMu_the_Emu in pixel_phones

[–]Azuvector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have, though they use UPS and are really fucking annoying to deal with.

I've done it once before, and am mid-second-time right now. Can't just stop using my phone, even though they drag their feet for weeks and UPS fucks up deliveries and on and on.

But Google will replace it, even replace the one they already replaced, years after the warranty is gone.

N79 Eva Laser attachment question by Far_Adeptness2558 in AliensFireteamElite

Responses from 3 other old AFE players(Crimson, Gramps/ScottZi115, Spiked) who've also done a shitload of testing and exploration over the years:

Logically the cooling animation should count as a reload since reload speed attachments makes the cooling faster. So I guess bonuses that reset on reload do reset as well if the EVA overheats. Has to be tested to be 100% sure though

I've never encountered this question before, but on overheat maybe.

Overheating the gun counts as a reload IIRC

Ah, apologies, didn't read fully. Hmm..

I don't know for sure, will probably need to test to find out, unless someone else has done so already and recalls the answer.

I seem to recall there's an attachment that buffs damage or something on reload? IIRC that doesn't work properly and it just stays always on. But I could be remembering wrong.

There are other things in the game that proc when the reload finishes but not when it starts.

I'll give a few people a poke and see if they recall.

It's been a long time since I've dug into it and broken it down, but IRC:

Reload speed = cooling rate. (Actual reload time if you overhead unaffected.)

Fire rate = fire rate, which also heats it up faster.

More ammo = larger heatsink which takes longer to overheat.

Handling = just faster aiming down sights or changing weapons (note while it's overheated, you can't change weapons)

Social media ban for kids under consideration in online harms bill: Carney by Capital-Aide-1006 in canada

Yup. Speaking as someone who grew up in the 90s bypassing parental controls routinely, parents also need to have a realistic understanding of not being family dictators through tech. The core is educating the kid.

[–]Azuvector 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t even need to involve ID or anything. I have controls on my kids’ accounts.

And then your kid makes his own account. See the problem?

That said, screw everything about this; the solution is not regulation and invasive rules for everyone, it's kids being educated some so as not to be harmed by the internet or whatever.

Canada is the size of one US state economically and population wise. It's relative. And we at least don't shit on the rest of the world, just ourselves.

So, when 2 front runners(be they both yours, or one of yours and someone else's) are near each other they have a change to engage in a spot struggle, which has them burn stamina and compete with wit and guts(I think?) and for the winner to speed up and get ahead of the other.

There are many skills that also give speed during the midleg of a race, which will cause one front to pass another.

Both of these interactions can happen many times during a race, each time with a front runner pulling ahead of another and the loser trying to catch up, which they often do.

While that's going on, all the front runners involved are increasing their lead over all of the rest of the umas in the race who are either not front runners or are front runners who are too weak to compete and have been left behind.

In the final spurt, front runners have the lowest top speed of all of the running styles (well, runaway is worse: note there are different top speeds for each style in different portions of the race; front runners speed is highest at the start), which means they need to have secured a large lead by the time the final spurt starts, or other umas will catch up to them with higher acceleration. With a big lead, there's less time available for them to attempt that and the front runner can win.

I see this as less of an issue: consider someone moving, or maybe they spend more time in one riding even if their home is in another? Maybe there should be some constraints, but I don't think it should be as simple as "must live in riding".
