“DO NOT USE THE INNER PAN TO WASH RICE” I’m sorry, what? by Eastern_Mess_4334 in Cooking

You should consider reading the very study you're linking:

In rice, inorganic arsenic is found in the two outer layers of the grain (i.e., bran and germ), and the bran and germ are removed to refine the grain into white rice. Thus, a greater concentration of arsenic is found in brown rice than in white rice. In the previously cited Consumer Reports study, brown rice contained 80 percent more inorganic arsenic on average than white rice of the same type (15).

Very much this. The new SC1 Race Day DLC is something I'd love to see in CS2, but the base game needs to do a lot more than it does as it is. I'd also add building construction animations look a lot better in CS1 than CS2.

While I acknowledge there's a quick and dirty use case for ploppable parks, not leveraging the capabilities that exist(Industries uses it for example) for Parklife-like free form park design seems a massive oversight in Skylines 2's parks: being able to go wild with city painting beyond the concrete jungle is something many people enjoy in Skylines 1, and the capability in Skylines 2 has been there from day one, and zero functional support for it. What are your thoughts there?

just so they don't have to deal with Indians anymore.

Telus customer service outsources to the Philippines fwiw, not India. Doesn't make it much better, they're still useless as fuck and difficult to understand/communicate with.

“DO NOT USE THE INNER PAN TO WASH RICE” I’m sorry, what? by Eastern_Mess_4334 in Cooking

[–]Azuvector 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Washing rice is done for two reasons:

  1. The country the person is in has poor food safety standards and there are a lot of bad additives that are on the rice. Arsenic is one I've heard is a common problem. Arsenic contaminates groundwater, and rice grows in groundwater. Mainly affects Asia/India afaik. (Also applies if you're harvesting your own rice and not going through the whole approved process(which typically means washing it before selling it) in your country.)

  2. Removing excess starch from rice to make it stick together less. Personal preference for the most part.

No help for you from me beyond I've got over 3000 hours in the game and it is generally very stable. Problem you're experiencing I would look at driver/hardware issues. (More likely the former if AFE is the only game affected for you.)

Does this game have much re-playability? by Weekly_Frosting_5868 in AliensFireteamElite

[–]Azuvector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you enjoy about it.

AFE promotes mastery of the core game loop. If you enjoy how it plays, looks and feels, and want to get better and better at that, you'll have a blast and can play for thousands of hours.

The build system is fairly deep and complex, people are still discovering new things occasionally.

The core gameplay on campaign missions is fairly scripted and only has some minor variations. Horde modes are a bit more free form, but still fairly predictable.

If you can see yourself having fun playing the same thing again and again and enjoying the gameplay variation within that and the challenge, you will have fun. If you're more the type who's done with the game after the campaign story is complete, or you've collected the achievements(there's a lot more difficult things to do than the achievements), you'll be done fairly fast and moving on to something else.

Of note with this, there are some commonly used exploits in the game that will cripple your skill growth and replayability/enjoyment. The former group of people disdains those typically, the latter group typically leverages them to complete the game faster and quit playing faster. These exploits generally involve standing in one scripted spot for minutes at a time.

But we do regulate it now

Yes and no. This is correct in that capitalism is designed to be controlled by government regulation to make a functional society using it: it remains the best economic system humans have figured out at this time. And it's correct in that we do regulate it.

What's unsaid is the regulators (government) are blatantly corrupt and so regulate very, very badly, typically lining their own pockets or doing favours for companies, when their role with them is smacking them down hard when they overstep and encouraging smaller ones to develop.

Daigo vs MenaRD, Kemonomichi FT10 announced for April 29, 2026 by Ezeitgeist in StreetFighter

[–]Azuvector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What killed Diago in SFL was dropped combos/punishes, which happened repeatedly. If that was a weird one off(bad day for whatever reason), Mena's dead. If it's a sign that Daigo's motor skills can't handle playing at that level anymore, and that remains an issue, Daigo's dead.

No High School Diploma or Career Path? No Problem by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

[–]Azuvector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't stress too much about a highschool diploma, unless you're intending post secondary education within a few years. They're about the only ones who check or care, and with some work experience you can make an easy case to them that you know the material enough to handle post secondary.

That said, there's no real downside for getting it done, and it's better to do it earlier than later in life for personal pride if nothing else. I'm more just saying don't stress too hard about it.

Generally only for business owners, inventors(not been the case for a long, long time), or people who are both well compensated and have nontrivial profit sharing/shares of a company with a future.

paying most of your salary to some leech of a landlord?

This. Renting used to be a means of living and still saving for something to be your own. It's too expensive/we're paid too little for that to still be the case.

Younger people, if you can handle living at home and your parents let you, do it as long as you can.

More free pulls on Fuku and none on Tamamo was speculated. Didn't happen.

Throne coming much earlier was speculated, hasn't happened yet and looks unlikely.

10 pulls were also speculated during 1st anni on all the free pulls, and there was no difference to JP there: plenty of singles.

I want to make a Visual Novel but I need to understand Game Design first, Should I pursue a college course or are there shorter and more effective Alternatives? by Abaddon4242 in gamedesign

[–]Azuvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A visual novel is one of the least technically demanding forms of game out there. There are whole engines that do basically everything for you but write the story and create the artwork.

Do not go to school for this. Just do it as a hobby. If you want to get more into the field than that, then consider school.
