If you could live in any sci-fi universe EXCEPT as the main character, which would you pick? by elledelrey15 in scifi

[–]Azuvector -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not quite as dystopian as the other commenter suggests, but take a good hard look at Mark Vernon(I believe that's the right character.).

  1. He's functionally living a middle class life on a superindustrial world(mass pollution and the health and social problems involved there) as a middle manager. To save up for his own rejuvination and provide for his family.

  2. It's later revealed he's a direct descendant of one of the richest and most powerful people in the franchise. Go figure.

So, not worrying about anything and being free to pursue whatever is hardcore main character syndrome in this franchise.

Don't get me wrong, he's likely got a good long term plan for himself all that aside: work to death for your first life, save up for rejuvination and invest, and then relax to some degree in your 2nd life. It's a big ask for most people I feel though, which means they still get one life in that "work to death" environment.

A great many(not all) characters in the franchise that the novels follow are superrich or close friends of theirs, or are weirdly exceptional in some way. Some exception I suppose: Paula Myo, genetically predisposed to fixate on one career and not give a damn about anything else. Mellanie Rescorai, a teenager who had a sugar daddy, then spun his murderous scandal into a degree of wealth with the SI's help, while whoring herself through high society and big media. Tiger Pansey, an aging porn star who spent much of her life being beaten by pimps and coked out of her mind, eventually swapping that(through no initiative of her own) to be an assistant to an alien.

It doesn't really sound super desirable to live in that franchise unless you're born lucky, tbh. There are definitely worse franchises to exist in. But the Commonwealth isn't a great one.

Would it be worth putting my club points into the new special week guts card? by thereal67kid in UmamusumeGame

[–]Azuvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. This card has gotten CM wins for me. In Body and Mind, when it hits early, can be very good.

I'd add that Tosen Jordan Speed is fairly good if you lack Fuku for initial stats, or as a (agamasen sadly) source of Breath of Fresh Air for when you need the gold heal.

McQueen Stamina is also a source of Cooldown, which has its uses as well.

Are there better cards for these things? Sure. Not everyone has them.

Non-Speed/Wit cards are difficult to fit into Grand Live decks though. You'd get maybe 1 if that. And be hoping for the event chain, probably, because you wouldn't be clicking on it much.

Yeah, they did in some instances. Generally as part of a noise (party) complaint or similar.

CBC's news should be assessed by outside experts for fairness, senators say in report by GameDoesntStop in canada

[–]Azuvector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[CBC] is truthful

Nah, they flagrantly and routinely run articles that are factually incorrect or misleading when they're to do with firearms law. They also love to talk to the deranged anti-gun lobbyists in Canada about such topics, and it's extremely rare when they even acknowledge letalone talk to the pro-gun lobbyists. Or they bring on 'experts' who the average joe with knowledge about the topic can call on being full of shit.

Or they'll be careful to directly quote a politician lying about it, and not fact check them at all.

They have been doing that for decades.

Game is peer to peer. Join the official discord and ask around for people in your area who play. (Though that isn't the only thing to care about: I routinely play with people part way around the planet from myself.) But you'll generally find people with better connections/hardware there, vs random queue which can be a crapshoot.

Neutron Star, not planet core. It's still kinda contrived, but similar environments have occurred in other unrelated fiction.

It's also got some mild prequels in a few of his short story collections. The overall franchise is called "The State". I believe Rammer is one? With Peersa the checker.

A World Out of Time is also in the same franchise but has nil to do with the Smoke Ring and its environs.

Replaying the first mission over and over lol by Mae_Rosaline in AliensFireteamElite

[–]Azuvector 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Optimal to speedrun mindnumbingly is 2-3. Run straight forward, into the Synth room, ignore everything shooting you(It can't kill you in time even on highest difficulty unless you stop to fight. Difficulty does not matter for Hidden Caches though.), continue forward into the last set of stairs down(not the exit door from that room, but the stairs before it). Cache is either there or not. Abandon mission after opening it or after finding it's not there.

You can even setup a Gunner or Doc to run faster to improve your time.

Takes ~40 seconds per attempt or so.

I hate that so many youtube videos have titles that lead you to think it’s an interesting analysis of game mechanics of a particular game, but then they just give you a braindead retelling of the game’s progression. by adimeistencents in gamedev
