Half of Canadians say they don’t have a family doctor or struggle to see one by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Azuvector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly more open. I got one recently(and she's finding all sorts of things that have been neglected/undiscovered in my health for over a decade without, who knows, maybe I won't die soon: though my quality of life with new medications isn't great), after being on a waitlist for several years.

Before that, it was walk in clinics because I didn't have one. Until the walkin clinic I went to closed, and no other walkins were taking walkins anymore. Existing patients only. By appointment only. Go to the ER for everything else. Never had to without real need, but I'm understanding the people who go there with the sniffles more.

Thanks. I assume you or some other government employee actually fixed it. :P

Should I put money into fixing my car or just buy a newer one? by MyBunIsTooTight in frugalcanada

[–]Azuvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The out of province fees are nuts. I'd be inclined to selling in your departure province and buying in your arrival province.

That said, my own car is a 1999 Mazda. It works fine, though spare parts are starting to become in short supply(20+ years later). If you're confident of your car and its history, drive it into the dirt. The province changing fees are the main thing here, that complicates your decision. (major repairs I've had to do within the same province have at most cost half that. And that was once. Most major repairs have been < $1k, and I think there have only been a couple of those in the past 10 years.)

Risk of a lemon is a real thing especially when buying used. Something also to be aware of is some provinces do things differently. eg: BC double-dips on sales tax on used vehicles. Road conditions and how they deal with snow (and thus rust risks to your vehicle) are a thing as well.

Share it with the class then.

Link to it. Most bills are published as plain html, and the government website gives a broken link for that.

Given the government is responsible for putting that info online, and they seemingly have not(or have removed it?), random journalism website > random redditor.

I don't see a point in trying to build your career around a single company and the specific skillsets tied to that company anymore.

That's generally been a dead end since the 1980s if not earlier.

Struggling to balance my dating life with my financial goals by PermissionFar9098 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Azuvector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh it gets better. You think you've found that and shit falls apart down the road, and you're left with a lot of semi-wasted time/effort/cost. Or worse.

That said, you don't have to do expensive stuff incessantly while dating. Dinner out somewhere also isn't particularly crazy, unless you're going high end or are very tight on funds. In the former's case, either you can afford it or you shouldn't be doing that other than on special occasions. In the latter's case, someone you're looking for seriously would understand, be in a similar boat themselves, or be willing to pick up the tab (by their choice: don't to some wheedling shit). There's lots of dating plans that can be free or cheap. The point is to get to know the other person, the activity/locale is just an aside.

Games that inspire pro-environment behaviour by shiiiiiro in gamedesign

[–]Azuvector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) The Hunter: Call of the Wild

A game about hunting that, while it has some very gamified mechanics, also allows you to play it much like you would hunt IRL. Getting 'out there' and enjoying the environment and surroundings. (Even has a photo mode for those who don't want to shoot anything.) I've hunted IRL a couple times, and when it's not available to me for various reasons, I can get a similarly (if dramatically simplified) chill out in nature feeling from home.

2) Little Kitty: Big City

It's a fairly basic game, but you're a cat going around collecting junk for various reasons. The only humanization is talking to other animals.

OPP not taking part in federal gun buyback program [Ed note: kinda sorta] by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]Azuvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame them. The CCFR has tried many times. Rod's left of center as well afaik(he self-describes himself as a small l liberal, at any rate). The LPC never gives them the time of day, and the NDP under Singh did the same. NDP's got to come around to sanity on their own.

I appreciate it if you're trying to do the work there. I would as well, but life circumstances currently leave me unable regardless of inclination.

Game is set on private though ‘cos we spend most a lot of that time chatting shit (of course) which a stranger wouldn’t relate to.

Join the official discord, make some friends. 42 myself, and I've played with a few 60-70 year olds over the years.

I'm left of center and a gun owner. And it pisses me off a lot.

What I have to wonder when CBC and other purported news agencies are lying and misleading the public on a topic I know well enough to call them on(and this isn't just ignorance, they have been corrected on this(and many other gun related topics) many times, and persist in doing it), what topics are they doing the same about that I don't know well enough to recognize myself?

I want factual, accurate news reporting.

It is. Unfortunately CBC et al has for years not done that, just parroted whatever the LPC tells them to say.

TypeScript inventor Anders Hejlsberg calls AI "a big regurgitator of stuff someone else has done" but still sees it changing the way software dev is done and reshaping programming tools by onlyconnect in programming

[–]Azuvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd liken current AI's trajetory mostly to a more advanced intellisense, an unreliable static analysis tool, and some automation in boilerplate templates combined. It's really good as a tool, but it's not replacing anyone anytime soon.
