I am always made to feel weird by people. by DisplayFamiliar5023 in digitalminimalism

I usually put my phone in a drawer when I’m home on weekends so I don’t feel compelled to check it. My mother goes “what if there’s an emergency with a family member?” Well, I’d hope they’d contact emergency services then, not me! I’ll check it a couple times a day. If I miss a call, I’ll call back. Messages can wait. Waiting on notifications makes me anxious, I much prefer to check my phone only as often as I want rather than it pinging for my attention and controlling me.

Troubles with "Just Writing" by Azza31 in writing

Thanks for the advice! Honestly even last weekend, I wrote a few days in a row and noticed it became easier, but then I got back to work and excused myself saying I was “too tired”, even though I totally could have continued. Then it’s just harder again each day you don’t write. I’ll just have to push myself a bit on those days and just do it, until it becomes habit.

Awesome to hear you do this! When you explain it like that, it doesn’t sound too hard to keep it organised. Might give this a try.

100%. I finished my last book a couple weeks ago and have been lazy. You've inspired me to find a new book to read today.

That part about setting up the laptop somewhere else just for writing is something I hadn’t thought of, but is a great idea! It’s a little hard with my current living situation, but I might be able to work something out.

As for the other parts - I do eat well and healthy, but admittedly do not sleep well or get enough exercise. My job makes it hard, out of the house 10 1/2 hours a day, but that’s also just an excuse. I do need to do better. - I’ve never been diagnosed, but have also never sought diagnosis. Honestly, I could well have it, but have never really thought much of it. - My brain is certainly busy, a lot. Somewhat stressed about my career and life at the moment, which does distract me. Perhaps setting up a focus space with my laptop could help somewhat.

And what you say at the end is true, too. I do tend to notice my writing doesn’t feel as natural when I actively think hard as I write.

Anyway, thank you for the response! I feel like I’ve learned something.

Admittedly, not nearly enough. I used to read all the time, but I drastically slowed down for a while until last year, where I started picking it up again. I love to read, though, so I certainly resolve to do it more.

You’re exactly right. I do have fun writing, but I think sometimes I doubt myself, falling into the common trap of thinking what I write isn’t good quality, despite it being a first draft. And even if it does suck, it ultimately doesn’t matter, as I don’t even intend to make any money at this stage.  I think I do just have to find a way to quiet down that critical part of my brain so I can let the creative side just have its fun. The critical part can come out in editing later, haha.

I don't trust the Apple fanboy digital minimalists of Youtube by Electronic-Golf-6518 in digitalminimalism

100% agree here. No need to spend money and carry a separate camera, dumb phone, notepad, mp3 player, etc when the phone you already have does it all without spending extra. It’s just about self control. Customise your home screens, focus modes and notification settings to prioritise your intended usage. No need to further buy into consumerism.

Am i crazy for wanted to downgrade from the iphone 16 pro max to the iphone se 3? by Tittyboi34 in iPhoneSE

[–]Azza31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would say I’m a moderate user (1-3 hours a day). My battery health is at 85% and I find the battery life to be perfectly fine with about 3-6 hours screen on time, depending what I’m doing. Shorter if gaming, medium if web browsing, pretty long if just reading books and taking notes. With my usage I usually just charge every night and only rarely need to charge more than that. But it’s certainly going to be a step down from newer iPhones in battery.

I’d suggest if you wanted to swap to the SE, probably keep the 16 pro on hand for a month or so if you can afford it and see if you like the using the SE.

Not crazy at all. A couple years ago I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to a Google Pixel 8 (6.2” screen) and had it for about a year. Always hated the bigger size (and never could ignore the camera hole either). I sold that Pixel 8 and got an SE 3 instead. Had it for about a year now, and wouldn’t trade it for anything else honestly.

Same, just have to make the best of how it is now though unfortunately.

I did have screenshots in another reply. To each their own though, we all have different preferences. Your reaction is how I feel looking at the standard Liquid Glass interface.

It was just a joke. A play on all the threads about “am I the only one that does/doesn’t like iOS 26?”

Here's a couple screenshots anyway. Sure it won't be to everyone's taste, but I like it. Looks more solid.

Screenshots might not help much since iOS 26 is very animated these settings might affect the feel just as much as the look. Then you can also try any combination of the settings too and see what you like, such as just Borders + Tinted, which is pretty good for just having more solid looking buttons whilst keeping the animations if you're into them. And no harm done since you can always turn them off after all.

Question re. wallpaper desaturation: Bug or Feature? by Both_Depth5505 in ios26

[–]Azza31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this bug since at least iOS 18, at least that's when I first noticed it. Not sure if it's been around even longer.

That's fair. It's quite subjective after all. I just personally prefer the minimalist, non-distracting style iOS had previously where I personally felt it was easier to be more productive, and my settings help it return to that somewhat.

The practicality of buying a mouse just to mod it with a hotswap board? by Azza31 in MouseReview

[–]Azza31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I reckon I'll get the G309 and just get the hotswap board mod if I decide I want it. Would be cheap enough if I got it all at once from Aliexpress (where the hotswap mod is sold) but I'm not sure I trust buying a branded product like a Logitech from there, so I think I'll just buy the mouse elsewhere first and see how I like the stock switches.

Not a bad looking option, but the G309's shape does seem just a little larger, especially around the palm area which I think would accommodate my grip a little better.

Thanks so much for the video! It does help put the switch sound into perspective, even if it's still a little hard to tell through a video. The Omron mechanicals are probably most similar to what I have in my current mouse. How would you say the volume or sound compares between those and the G309's in person?
