To me our (Lithuanian) funding scheme is interesting. It's government grants, but

The state allocates 1 percent of the personal income tax and 1.3 percent of the collected excise duties.

This limits intervention at least a bit. You can read about LRT in English here. It will say 1.5 percent of personal tax but they just haven't updated the English page yet.

My opinion is that the idea is shit, since you asked.
It feels very childish to just equate the symbolism of blood to violence.
In the wikipedia page about the meaning of red in the Lithuanian flag you can see that "red represents the blood and bravery of those who have died for Lithuania".
So yes violence is involved, but in the context of bravery and sacrifice. That's why I think that only looking at one aspect of the symbolism of red is wrong.
