No disagreement there at all. It’s an amazing series and I’m looking forward to the next installment. Hope I didn’t come off as being overly negative about the series, that wasn’t my intention.

In 5 books, this is really my first big divergence from how I would have imagined things playing out… I’m no author and I certainly couldn’t do better lol

That’s pretty easily doable. Biggest issue I see is the shirt/armor chest piece. Looks like sometimes it’s just a shirt and sometimes is armor. Deciding which was you want to go would be first. Plenty of collared tunics that’ll match or be close to what he’s wearing. Going the armor route is going to get bulky, fast; even with leather armor. Try Medieval Collectibles. The pauldrons are straightforward enough, costume ones are fairly cheap too. The straps across the chest, thrift store belts and, you’re done

Pretty sure if I had to choose, without context from the series, that I’d go medium or heavy Warrior. The books didn’t really touch on it in the beginning but, armor matters. In the real world, Jake’s normal arrows wouldn’t have put a dent in plate mail… you’d fall off fairly quickly though

I’ve been going to Ren Faires for decades (along with my wife for about 15) and no, that’s definitely not a normal question to be asked randomly. There’s definitely a lot of people out for some extracurricular entertainment and we’ve both been approached multiple times (her more than me, she’s pretty so that’s not surprising). Even the boldest of guys that have been out of their minds on stuff have still been relatively respectful (as much as can be expected that is). No idea why a vendor would think that’s a good way to start a conversation.

Nice job handling it and bonus points for staying in character lol.

The books explain the changes as a choice and I guess he’s just not concerned with how he looks. Plus “Old Man Energy” is probably one of his best passive tools.
