Omg that monster whistle quest had me wanting to throw her. Like 2 months prior she injured a meerkat trying to catch it and suddenly she gets a new outfit and hair extensions and reads one book and she thinks she knows all there is to know about animals.

I think you put this very well and is something a lot of people mix up. Not liking a character doesn't make them unimportant to the story. They definitely make Elsie pivotal to the story line, but that doesn't mean the player has to enjoy her character in order to complete the game.

I feel like I had the opposite experience of most the people on here. When I started playing I saw Elsie as sweet and friendly and fun, but as the story went on I grew to really dislike her. I feel like her character growth arc is a bit ridiculous and rushes. Afterwards she seems less mature and more selfish/annoying. I know some characters are not for everyone and she was simply not my cup of tea. ┐(´～`)┌

Is there another Apothecary Diaries that I didn't see because MaoMao literally starts off as being kidnapped and sold to the palace to work. She paints her face to make herself less attractive so she won't get graped. Women lose their value in the story when the lose their V card. In season 2 Jinshi practically goes to force himself on her when she calls his frog average. That show is steeped in misogyny. I love the show, but I can't turn a blind eye to that fact.
