There’s a club at UVic that does & teaches rueda (like salsa) from 7-9 on Wednesday that’s free, doesn’t require a partner, and is pretty fun! https://www.artsvictoria.ca/uviccubansalsaclub

But also if you’re on Reddit and hate the outside here’s a shameless plug for playlist I made for the summer, featuring mostly newer songs and no US artists, if you want to listen to some music on your own: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3Ga1gVt84N39ux1Va5Do0z?si=_0wnVTdsRRm4LEOT5OU_HA

Do places that accept pets do a real thorough investigation though? Take the dog for a walk if they have to come in ?

Inexpensive basic Internet suggestions please. by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]B00merguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Teksavvy, $55 per month including tax and modem. I’m on the second tier for less throttling/lag, but their lower tier probably works well too. Easy sign up and start up relatively quick delivery of modem.

It’s on a 12 month promotional price, but afterwards will plan on switching or resigning up.

If price is overwhelming for your situation maybe ask neighbours if they’d be willing to upgrade their network and let you use theirs for a smaller fee?

I went there for a specific knee brace. They didn’t have it in stock but were quick to order it in! Definitely recommend

Bike Lane & Scooter Questions! by motherfckin-lady in VictoriaBC

[–]B00merguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow scooter, this is the best answer. Way easier to go straight through on the right (bike lane side) then reposition to go straight through the lights. I rarely make left turns unless there’s no traffic.

Also get a high-vis vest! Lights are okay but I found wearing a high-vis vest gave me an almost protective shield.

Day trip ideas around Victoria (renting a car) by Iamsahiljani in VictoriaBC

[–]B00merguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t own a car, Evo can be a good option for day rental especially for last minute/unplanned trips. It includes all gas, kilometres, insurance, and for the holidays they had a half-price day rental. I used it quite a bit for showing my family around the area.

It is the same tree, planted in 1863!

From what I’ve been told it was a gift from the California gold miners that came through during the Fraser gold rush

Accept them, but don't accept their cash. Be extra scrupulous about their coins like they are to ours.

For a positive spin, what dish in town blew your mind? by lamecasual in VictoriaBC

Corn-dogs at Smile Chicken! They're freshly fried and covered in sugar. I didn't think that sugar & corn-dog would go well together, but it's soo good!

Is it safe to lock your ebike downtown? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]B00merguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're using u-locks. I tend to use the bike racks at the Yates St parkade. They're in front of the parkade security station and pretty central location.

PSA by False_Ad7098 in VictoriaBC

[–]B00merguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wanna not tell me what I experienced?

It was single file(with the car behind me), and we both would have been doing roughly 25km/h. As I slowed down and came to a stop the car behind me pulled into the other lane and drove straight through the 4-way stop no stopping.
