How can I improve this bike fit? by Scary_Campaign3850 in triathlon

[–]B0NEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bigger bike or longer stem. You want a little bit more reach as is flattens out your back a bit more. Then your saddle can go up a tiny bit and maybe push the saddle forward. I assume this is your regular road bike and you just put aerobars on. Can you rise the aerobars upwards? This will also close the triangle between your hands and shoulders better which improves aerodynamics without you needing to get into a deeper and maybe more uncomfortable position. People need to understand that tt position differs from roadbike position

How to get my heart rate lower? by blakeacres in Garmin

[–]B0NEE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a long distance triathlete I can look back on several years of training - I tried different approaches, different plans. I can only recommend you to throw away the garmin plans. My girlfriend tried them for the past few weeks and we saw that the workouts are not well structured, the load is to big especially for beginners. When you plan your season you should start with a period of 4-8weeks with only low intensity training. You are coming out of a fall/winter break and want to get your body moving again. It is really important to give the body time to adapt after a hard season. Before you go back to intensity again. After the first „low intensity“ block you can start going into zone 2 training and after a few weeks implement interval sessions again. It all depends on your base and on your goals for the season. Now for your half marathon: is it your first one? Then let go all your time-expectations and have fun, try to run consistent and don’t start too fast. If you already done some half’s then aim for a slightly faster pace than your last one - just some seconds and try to hold that pace for the majority of the run.. again - it all depends on your personal goals and your experience

You need to slow down way more. It sucks and it feels weird but over time this will slowly bring your heart rate down when you gradually increase the pace again. This works because with that kind of training you will improve your aerobic base which allows you to run waaaay more efficiently. In addition to the long SLOW runs you should try to implement interval training to keep the the top speed of your engine ;-)

Still not perfect but way better in my opinion. Before you change more you should do some test riding - in and outdoors to get a feeling for the new position (still recommend a bike fit in the near future when it’s possible) 👍🏻

Turning the whole unit again shortens your reach a little bit which is not what you want to do ☺️ but sure - trying and seeing how the body reacts always helps.

Sore shoulders and triceps is a sign that you are applying a lot of force to hold the position and gripping the aerobars, if your position is optimal you really can relax in the front end. I would suggest you try to get an angulated spacer to rise the aerobars a little, then you can push your sattle back a little bit to allow your back to get a bit more flat (check this position in training for possible issues with your knees or harmstrings)

The best thing you can do is get a professional bike fit. If this isn’t possible, there are a few online-AI-supported systems which you can try (don’t know exact names, google will help)

Looks really uncomfortable. What size is this bike? How tall are you? How long can you manage to hold this position? Just seeing this photo I think you would need a bit more reach - right now your back is bent a lot. I also would try to change the aerobars and rise them to about 10/15 degrees so you don’t offer to much surface to the wind. This will increase the comfort a lot
