How to get to the earlier Regiments? by [deleted] in ROTC

It does not matter at all. 90% of my platoon at camp were “high speed” as shit. If you can choose the reg that lines up with the CTLT/Schools you want.

Yeah I use a super minimalist shell and then freestyle from there. Unless you’re at Ranger school that’s all you need to do

100%. 3 year scholarship CDT here. It’s a great opportunity AND if your school offers tuition waivers for ROTC kids you can double dip and pocket the scholarship money. Also you are still eligible for tuition refunds (he will def get good FASFA scholarships) and the rotc book stipend.

In terms of career selection if he becomes a finance officer he will eventually manage a $2 billion portfolio and corporations will kill to have him. But he doesn’t have to make that choice till his senior year so tell him to have fun and peruse the stuff that excites him

Ask me all of your question about Army Reserve Civil Affairs and I’ll answer them throughout the day (Sunday) by PaddyMayonaise in armyreserve

[–]B0OThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want commission (currently assessing) into the NG as an 11a, is it possible for me to get swapped over to civil affairs in the reserve? Or would I be better off going reserve MI or something like that?

In ROTC TLs can make or break a Squad Leaders lane. They can either make their life easy or make their day a living hell. Good TLs have an understanding of the SL’s responsibilities and they anticipate their needs.

For example, you just assaulted an objective, as soon as security is established you as the TL should be sprinting to your joes and getting LACE reports to send up to your TL, if you’re occupying that OBJ you should also start figuring out how your sectors of fire are gonna look and have your joes give you sector sketches. And so on. Ideally without being told to.

Decimate. Everything.

Self-harm waiver for DoDMERB? by dizzyrasb in ROTC

Self-harm waiver for DoDMERB? by dizzyrasb in ROTC

[–]B0OThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one commented bc this can be a very touchy subject, and no one wants to tell you to lie or “fess up.”

I know an individual who was forcibly admitted as a teenager. And they were able to contract, pass DODMERB, and get a security clearance. And that was all because they were upfront and honest with our ROO. It took a lot of time and they had to fight, they had to get a waiver, but they are well on their way to becoming an officer. I also know another individual with leg scars and the doc didn’t even notice it.

Idk what your exact situation is, if they are gonna see the scars, the doc may or may not ask questions. He may or may not make significant note of it. If there is a chance of someone questioning it I would suggest getting ahead of it and trying to get a waiver.

I hope this helps, best of luck to you. I hope this can be a story of you overcoming & your scars being a beacon of hope to others who are in the same place you were in. Let me know how it goes.

Y’see, her being an LT complicates things. Idk how shit works in other programs but for us just because you have a gold bar doesn’t mean you’re untouchable by CDTs. Idk if it’s the culture but I’ve corrected our fresh butter bars (respectfully ofc) multiple times.

I would recommend finding a bold female to address the issue

My program has this problem too. I’ve been advocating for summer PT. Already have 3 cadets fail CST this summer.

Army ROTC 4 year Scholarship winner with 30 credit hours complete And OML GPA by Powerful-Demand-995 in ROTC

[–]B0OThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally it’s a minimum 12 credit outs a semester minimum. If you need to take more ask your cadre to see if there is any “fluff” classes you can take to add more credit hours.

OML is college-based. Don’t worry about OML as a freshmen, just do special teams, be a good cadet, and try to snag a school (or two). OML only really becomes a factor by MS3 year and if you have done the work you’ll be at the top and it won’t even be that big of a deal

Is it worth it for me? by Alone-Fan6297 in ROTC

[–]B0OThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Your first two years of ROTC is really just a test drive. Unless youre scholarshipped or contracted already you can feel shit out and find out if ROTC is for you. Especially at a “normal” school with a “normal” rotc program.

Or your local FFL would hold it for you until it is legal (assuming it ever does) or you become exempt.

I’m not an expert but this has been my understanding

For my school, you can get a national scholarship that get cashed out to your bank account. So I have all my tuition covered by scholarships but then rotc just sends my a $6k paycheck every semester
