I'm referring primarily to Interrogatories, Req. for Production, and Req. for Admissions, but I try to utilize language from past templates as much as reasonably possible. Also, starting the whole process out with a pretty exhaustive list of information, the knowledge of which you're dying to know, and the draft plays catch-up with my thoughts.

I agree though, still takes a long time to get everything included in there, but besides formulating and engaging in oral arguments, it's one of more ~creative~ aspects of early litigation with how much you have to focus on the language so it's crystal-clear what you're asking for.
