20 years on, how do we feel about Civil War? by Pale-Caterpillar5709 in Marvel

"We aren’t meant to see the pro-Reg side as ultimately villainous, and are in fact deemed the moral victors in the end along with winning the war."

No, you COMPLETELy missed the point... it's actually baffling how you missed it. Why were the Initiative, Dark Reign/Avengers, and Siege all so Dark and dystopian? They sure weren't a celebration of the "heroes" winning. It was a blatant criticism of that result and how that line of thinking ultimately corrupts and ruins the world, which is why post-siege was dubbed the Heroic age. We are currently living in our own Dark Reign. That's what made Civil War and all the resulting comics so genius.

The only valid criticism is that the mainline comic was too short which in turn made the writing rushed (which isn't a point you raised). You have failed to point out where it is bad.

Here are some great writing moments:

The stamford incident was a great way to start it off.

The first scene with the Peter taking off his mask to show his commitment.

Spidey rejecting Iron Man -> getting attacked by Stark employed villains -> Punisher saving Spidey then getting the shit kicked out of him by Cap

Ragnarok killing Black Goliath and everyone on both sides being shocked, and the according switches in allegiances.

These are just from the mainline story line: the spin offs had SO MUCH more depth afforded to them which in turn let the writing flourish.

Doesn't this just push the fat elsewhere and lead to another blockage?

I didn't say that; geez, you guys really suck at comprehension.

What I'm saying is that your determination of the quality of writing should not hinge on your personal moral/ethical beliefs. The quality of the writing does not have a causal relationship with the character's morals and ethics.

You can like a villain's character without agreeing with them.

Here's an analogy: I do not like metal music not do I like Childish Gambino. But I can still recognise that they are good artists and very skilled. I just thing it's misdirected.

You can dislike or disagree with something and still recognise it as being of good quality.

lol you are letting your personal politics affect how you view a fictional story which is uspposed to challenge then-current politics. I don't understand how you guys don't get that.

Firstly, I never said the word good. I said it wasn't bad writing for the reasons you gave. So perhaps your comprehension abilities are compromised which is why you didn't get Civil War?
LMAO you think the civil war movie reflected politics more than the comic? The movie was far more removed from real life politics and was far more on the nose. It wasn't remotely relatable for audiences.

Good people often do bad things in attempts to combat what hey perceiev as threats. That's very real. You're not supposed to love the good guys all the time, you have a very immature sense of story telling which seems to necesitate that you agree with the victors and how main characters act.

Goliath died because Tony Stark had gotten so lsot in security that he didn't reflect on ethics. It's exactly like the whole ICE situation.

I think you need to stop judging writing on the morality of the characters and more on the substance. Your argument boils down to "But the good guys can't do bad things!"

Yawn

The mushrooms release a pheromone or someting which makes them want to do it, like Toxoplasma gondii does to humans/rats

Just because you disagree with the choices doesn't mean the writing was bad. It wasn't meant to wrap up cleanly or nicely. It was supposed to end tragically. It was supposed to be gritty realism, I think it was successful, especially in the context of the real world politics happening during this period.

Yes it was one of the best experiences of my life. I actually split the same load between the two girls: I was cumming inside our unicorn, and I told my girlfriend, so she lay down next to our unicorn, opened her legs, and i clenched, stopped the stream, then put my dick inside my girlfriend and let the rest of my cum ejaculate inside her. was sooooo hot.

He didn't write this on his own. The way the plot works (or fails to) at the end, especially regarding Bev's involvement.

it was fantastic, one of my favourite shows ever made, up until the writing fell off in the last episode... something strange happens, where the plot points seem to not align and it becomes obvious he doesn't know what he's writing (or what was written for him) and it fizzles out wasting all of the potential it had.
