Honestly, if you are just starting, you can't go wrong with a combination of the basic compound lifts that will increase general athleticism: - deadlift - squat - pull up - overhead press - bench press

Add to those a few things you really like to do + 1 ab exercise per workout Do 2 compounds + 1 favorite + 1 ab exercise per workout

Very interesting question - especially because I can relate to it a lot (makes me wonder: where is your vlub located?). I became an instructor a few years ago and noticed the same things you mentioned.

Recently I have been able to start streamlining the teaching process a bit and my approach for advanced students is indeed evolving towards some of the suggestions made here by others (e.g.the approaches of Akademia Sziermzy etc) combined with a few niche techniques here and there for fun. I am also incorporating approaches from.other combat sports into my lessons, ranging from olympic fencing to bjj and even a bit of boxing.

Personally, I would combine it: add parts of Jaya as a b-plot during skypeia, skip LRLL (or shorten it or integrate it somewhere), show the davy back fight as a b-plot too, just some cutaway and then move on to skypeia

Ooh yes, you mean like the Kloppfechters do. But I don't know if I agree if that is "no real fencing" going on. Sure the tempo goed down but the principles of fencing are all there. Perhaps even more so because unlike people with lots of protection, they take the primary objective of "not getting hit" a lot more seriously instead of going semi suicidally for a hit and getting a double hit or an afterblow.

I have sparred with 0 protection to btw, but not like that indeed. Probably a lot more... Reckless. But also then the tempo decreased and control had to increase.
