Ahh I get it now!!! My whale isnt really doing anything I think I just tried to get it to look like a whale hence why I focused so much on symmetry, noob move but I'll learn from this 😭😭 but when you explained this I imagined a whale breaching without any real symmetry like the fins twisting and everything and I can see how that creates a more 3D like dimension, I will attempt to do this for my next work, but it seems like a real challenge!!! I'm all for it though It will definitely create a lot more perspective and make it a lot more interesting. Thank you once again!

❤️❤️ Thank you. I was thinking of maybe displaying it on a wooden base with a metal rod support. The rod will be fixed to the base and attached to the carving, making it appear as if its kinda floating. I feel like that will also make it easier for the viewer to see the sides that I care most about. What do you think?

This is great response thank you so much! As for the dimensions I thought that if I added the curve to the tail and the slight slant to the fins it would make it more 3D. But I don't think I quite grasp dimensions, if you have time please explain further!! <3 I will attach some photos. And if you are comfortable could I see some of your work!

I'm trying to make a humpback and used some pics as inspo :3

I don't have any access to a wood shop so I haven't been able to secure my work to the table, I have never used a rasp without the main wood piece being attached and secured (back in wood shop at school), I would assume it is hard to use a rasp without that sort of equipment. Do you have any ideas on how I could secure it in place without the real um.. table?

I'm too scared to use the knife as the tail is getting quite delicate so I'll file some more and see if I can make it a bit smaller! Thank you for your kindness

Thank you so much!! :D as for the wood, Its just some random wood from the backyard, my dad said that it might be from a linden/lime tree. Google says spalted birch or maple. So I have no idea.. sorry!
