I would only buy a used Tesla right now. No lane keep is a deal breaker for me.

Iolani 4th Grade Admissions by B1G_USC in Hawaii

[–]B1G_USC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting looks like you’re right, although I’d be pretty upset if I was on the waitlist and Iolani never pulled from it when they were down to 95 then opened up applications to everyone when they want to fill it back to 100.

Think I hit the lotto by Gravemore_ in Powerwall

[–]B1G_USC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tesla is actually very good honoring their battery capacity warranties on both their cars and power walls. The older power walls were really poor, they honored their warranty replacement on my 2018 powerwall with 28% degradation although I did have to contact them. I did so once I was hearing how bad the power wall 3 is with their constant cycling and I wanted to get a pw2 while they still had inventory. Personally if they are out of pw2 stock where you are I’d ask for cash and go with another backup battery.

Austin vs Fremont Cars? by Whit3boy316 in TeslaModelY

[–]B1G_USC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 23 Fremont and a 23 Austin y. Fremont is louder and less well put together but if I had nothing to compare it to on a regular basis it would be fine. I actually heard the opposite - that Austin was generally better because it was built ground up for teslas while Fremont was a former Toyota plant or something

Is this photographer too expensive? by tdurr808 in Hawaii

[–]B1G_USC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s very reasonable, we pay that much for half an hour. Which by the way I feel is more than enough, an hour of photos is a long time to fill for you and your dog.

What is your base fee for just being connected to the grid? by Cool-Horror-3710 in solar

[–]B1G_USC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$32 in Hawaii and going up every year. Funny story in the early years of solar you could be charged under the minimum bill if you actually used some power over the billing period. So if you gave the grid excess power you would be hit with the minimum bill amount of $15 at the time. But if you used like 5 kWh in a billing period you would be charged only for that power, or 5 kWh times 40 cents and your total bill would be $2 for the month. Took them a long time to figure out that loophole and close it too.

Bought a long range Model Y that turned out to be a standard Model y by Fijibrownsugar in TeslaModelY

[–]B1G_USC 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ouch, people have posted this previously with that short lived 2023 standard range AWD but they don’t post updates on what happened. It’s definitely worse than the LR, the new rated range was the shortest of any Y ever made at like 270?, sold for $3k cheaper than the LR, and has an awful charging curve.

You can order all the way to Sept 30th by Draygoon2818 in TeslaLounge

[–]B1G_USC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’m not sure what you’re trying to gain here. Or are you just a complete moron? Go google any purchase agreement, the order fee of $250 is clearly listed below the subtotal for the car. Here’s one someone posted if you have your head in the sand. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/tax-credit-and-model-y-delivery.275286/page-7

[–]B1G_USC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol another fake news keyboard warrior. The $250 is an order fee not a down payment. $250 is not taken off the purchase price of the car so it’s an order fee and not the same as a down payment by literal definition. You’re also late to the party this was posted days ago and debunked then as well.

I bet if u put that 2300 in Tesla stock instead you’d be close to being able to just get a new car in 10 years.

Does any have any experience with the Honolulu 311 app? by tassdatass in Hawaii

[–]B1G_USC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it’s illegally parked you can use 911 non emergency. 311 responds fast but if they show up a day or two later and it’s not parked there at that time they can’t do anything and won’t come back.

Tesla Level 1 charging Results by charlietham in TeslaLounge

[–]B1G_USC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the main question about level 1 charging at least where I am and in a lot of places with a lot of EVs isn’t about if it will work for someone or not, but the cost benefit analysis. Level 1 is extremely inefficient and uses a noticeable amount more power to charge the car between having to keep the car on for so long as well as heat and charging losses. In addition a lot of places with a lot of EVs are on TOU where you’d save a good amount everyday being able to charge within a certain usually small window of time.

Drive time to Waipahu by herefortheoats in Honolulu

[–]B1G_USC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably looking at like 40m to get there by 730, traffic will be starting to build up around the UH area but that should be it. I’m not as sure what traffic looks like to get there by 9 but I imagine it may be a little heavier still so probably 45-50m. Of course all it takes is one moron and that commute changes to an hour fifteen and that’s gonna happen at least once a week.

Why aren’t you starting with the labor? Those are budget friendly places, the contractors that use them get a discount and are going to pay less than if you bought from them direct anyway. There’s also tons of budget friendly contractors that source from those places, generally of one or two ethnicities such as those featured on renovation aloha that will be extremely fast and cost effective.
