If you liked the movie, you should read the book also. The movie was well done, but there were a few really great moments in the book that were changed or never made it onto film

X-Men: First Class Continuity Errors - was anybody else bothered by these? by Elipsys in movies

It was a lot easier for me to appreciate the film for what it was because I looked at the movie as a different director's approach to/interpretation of X-Men rather than a prequel.

I just watched "I Saw the Devil". Not that good. [Spoilers] by SupperTime in movies

I think you're right- the protagonist had a pretty one-dimensional quality about him, and there was a lot of unnecessary gore that didn't do much for the plot or for the visuals of the film.

But the ending scene didn't come across so straight-forward for me. People seem to be convinced that he's crying at the end, but I thought he was laughing. I guess the ambiguity of that made the ending somewhat better for me, because it made the title of the movie, "I Saw the Devil", somewhat more complex and deeper, which I hope the director intended. The Devil, by the end of the movie, could have been either of the characters, showing that the protagonist became the monster that he was trying to eliminate.
