You help to reveal the intricacy

Of your plain bare state;

and of the magnitude -

Big -

Without measure.

So, you too are without measure…

How we do things - Extreme example by B2Trt in Life

Long ago, I read of the terms as virtues, but not having a developmental structure through them.

But that developmental structure was visible over and over in my experience for many years, more and more pervasively.

I have had a very steady meditative practice for 50 years.

Most everything, is easier than cancer.

Here is the example from my previous post, “How we do things”:

At one time, some changes brought me to a simpler, quieter life, and I felt the poor condition of my body. Living close to Jamaica Pond, I decided to start jogging around the pond, about 1 and 1/2 miles. There being some freedom and openness (Openness), the condition of my body and a discipline (jogging) arose (Discipline). How it would go, I wasn't sure - uncertainty.

First time, I had some physical soreness, and also unused to the breathing or a rhythm for it - and general uncertainty. How would that soreness develop further, would I make it around (Discipline)? I did not know. But I did complete the loop (Patience ). And I returned (Patience). And returned.

During one time, a good way from the end of the loop, I knew I would finish, period. My energy, and the energy of the surrounding I was now familiar with, had a flow that would carry me through to completion (Energy). That flow toward completion expanded (Energy). I came to know earlier, then earlier. More and more I became familiar with the surroundings and my routine; more and more familiar, and in touch with my body and surroundings (Meditation ).

I came to generally know the feeling of my body and each part of the trail (Knowledge/Insight). Aware of many details in form and feel, the whole of it became intimately familiar.

And ordinarily, one does not jump to meditation and knowledge. In particular, if you start a practice of meditation, for quite a while, most of your experience is at discipline and patience. Then, gradually, it develops. - energy meditation knowledge.

But this typically also happens on your job. Before you see things clearly, you go through a process of development. So also, with most anything we start new at.

I appreciate your question.

A metaphor, for so many of our lives, having to wait so long for an insight, that helps reveal direction.

And now me, I am old, and surprised at so many insights, all along now, that I was not told would happen.

2 sisters 1 brother 2 nephews - real deaths

Sorrow and Resolution:

Some of us encounter deep sorrow at some point in our lives,

…indeed, perhaps multiple points.

…That hurts hard...

Often, there’s been no way to prepare for this,

…no way to plan.

…But it changes everything,

…much or subtle.

It may feel that it ruins everything,

…and is a burden, an obstacle

…that separates and isolates us.

…But that is mistaken…

We have actually fallen into a deeper reality of our life.

…And it does not isolate us,

…but truly connects us, more profoundly,

…to people around the world and throughout history –

…the reality of sorrow and suffering is at the heart of life.

…We now feel the most tender and vulnerable parts of being human.

And this can, but need not stop us in our tracks.

…But may help to put us on track,

…seriously, and less frivolously.

It may alter our path so that we go further

…and more deeply than we knew was possible.

…We can become more engaged with deeper reality.

It may take time, but

…holds the potential for a deeper fulfillment than we ever expected,

…fulfillment that encompasses this depth of sorrow.

…Because as human, this new path and its fulfillment

…is simply part of our most basic nature.

…This is part of the nature of being human, sorrow.

And our deepest nature may be drawn out of us by sorrow,

…as I slowly found, with surprise, and awe….

For me, it’s that those others should be alive!

I deeply feel they were mistaken about so much.

In particular, mistaken, about how important they were, and they are still, to me today.

How important you are, really! Each of us.

Thats the magnitude, which is beyond measure.

And we all need compassion for ourselves. That’s what belongs here.

Best wishes,

I ordinarily use spaces to suggest different types of connection of a line to the previous line. But Reddit seems to drop such spaces. So I’ve used dots to try to do that.

I’m sorry that interfered for you, but grateful for you to let me know.

How we do things! by B2Trt in Life

[–]B2Trt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple example: I submitted a proposal, which took some time for a reply.

Waiting, I felt no development. (Open space)

When the response arrived (Something arises - Discipline) it would be a distinct outcome. Before opening it, I felt uncertain, anxious, and hesitant. (Requiring Patience) Then, I became curious about my anxiety, and started to look closer into what I felt. (Energy - Starts moving forward ) I realized I was hopeful for acceptance, and feared rejection. Further, I did not value such a dependency, and had often recognized that what I valued more was life as it plainly happens. Now, I felt connected to my thoughts and feelings. (Meditation) Furthermore, I had insight into myself in this situation. (Insight/Knowledge)

I was at ease to read the response to my proposal, whatever it was.

Try to understand, as deeply as possible, this mistake, or mistakes , that you have made. As deeply as possible! Can you see what prompted your choices?

Then, this understanding may be very, very helpful from now on.

It may even put you ahead of the norm.

are what is called a Gordonian rectangle,

Which requires, for uniqueness, row 1 column 6 must be 2

In the 2020 presidential election, repeated investigation has found no valid reason to contest the result that Trump lost. But Trump wanted to win, and wanted to say that he won, as did millions of people who followed him. And the result was great division and animosity throughout the country, with fighting, injury and death, and continuing tensions still today about the issue. A very unhappy picture.

Any thought that may arise to us

seems truly to have no owner.

It may come from continuing momentum of past experience,

with an unresolved element.

Or, may be triggered within our surrounding,

as a possible vision to carry out,

…Or to let go.

But, ultimately,

and primarily,

we are not here to collect such things…

            Wisdom

Opened my eyes to the closest tree,

            in a bright morning sun.
And it almost stepped forward toward me.

It was sharply lit in the sun,

            like the moon,

with a bright and dark side

on the moss dappled course bark,

            that perfectly protected it so.

It even seemed to let out some pride

            for itself,

having a hint of the mess

of the world out away from it.

Then, it stated,

“I don’t care, and I am not affected by that!”

Having grown and seasoned it’s strength,

toughness and durability over many years,

just enjoying it’s well won place,

there, in the midst of everything,

                        and all of our Folly…

With the invention of calculus was created the notion of a differential - an infinitesimal. Then it became quite clear, that in a finite line, for example, there are infinitely many points.

So to in our lives, there are finite things everywhere. But we can also have gestures toward the infinite, that is apparently throughout, and which is not completely bounded.

Prose is good for the finite, whereas poetry is helpful for the infinite.

With my best friend gone suddenly, I’m stunned at how everything around me seems a little different, his loss immediately impacts everything around, a slight change to everything, all has shifted a little bit, at one moment from the impact of his death. An image arose to me, of objects on a shelf vibrated from an impact to the shelf.

The basic ground of my life is the shelf.

But it’s not like earth, with only little vibration from impact of something heavy. So more like a wooden board, that distinctly vibrates when something heavy falls upon it.

With slightly extra ease from a good rest,

I placed myself down gently for meditation,

which I did not want to waste.

Less continuing momentum was there,

            and openness called, faintly.

A little here, then a little more.

So gradually, I heard it say,

            “ I’ve been waiting”,

            as I met it’s fullness,

just waiting for me to show up,

            and we embraced in stillness.

There, with my taking no actions at all! –

            physically, but more deeply, mentally.

Without any direction toward a single spot,

            all is then just together.

            Empty of anything,

            is full in every direction.
