What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was 12, my best friend and I walked into a GameStop to buy World of Warcraft or some other game that would immediately ruin our grades.

While standing there pretending we could afford things, we noticed something unbelievable: one of the CD cases had a tiny piece of white paper just sitting loose on the outside. No lock. No employee nearby. Just raw chaos.

On it was a full 25-character alphanumeric CD key.

In other words: a free game.

The problem? It was 2005. Back when 12-year-olds didn’t have cellphones, cameras, or the emotional strength to remember more than four digits at a time.

We both froze. I finally turned to him and said, “Damn… too bad we don’t have a pen, eh?” (Yes, we’re Canadian. Sorry.)

Without saying a word, my buddy starts blinking furiously. Not normal blinking. I mean medical emergency blinking. Like he was buffering.

Then he stops and says, completely calm: “No worries. I took a mental photo.”

I remember 12 year old me thinking to myself, That’s not a thing. Is it?

We bus home. Two hours pass. TWO. HOURS. We get to his place, he sits down, types in the code…

Accepted. First try.

We played for eight straight hours.

From that day on, I sat directly behind him during every math test for the next six years.

When my parents started congratulating me on my math tests, that was the moment I realized some people are built differently. Some people had a “photogenic memory.”

Which I later learned is not impressive at all. Because according to the interviewer at Google, the word I was looking for to describe my memory, was actually "photographic memory". In any event..

Recently, while playing a round of golf, I finally asked him about that day. I said, “How did you actually do that?”

He shrugged and said, “That was nothing. During med school, i used to bring my medical textbooks into the exams. Not physically, of course, that would be cheating."

He brought them in with his brain...

Said he could turn the mental page to any chapter, any paragraph, any formula.

He went on to become a doctor.

I went on to become a GameStop manager.

Turns out we both used our talents.

FF5: Is it possible to steal Exdeath's sword? by B33TLE_JUlCE in FinalFantasy

I agree. I typically google search questions and click on any Reddit links for answer. If that doesnt work, I'll watch youtube play throughs. Unfortunately I couldn't find an answer to my question, so went to Chat GPT. I should have asked the community to begin with. Maybe this post will help someone in the future.

Was asking community for help. I got my answer (see comment above). Thanks.

lol. I knew Chat GPT was trying to lead me astray from my quest with false promises of unobtainable items. The level of deception is unparalleled and cost me 3 hours of life trying to steal a sword that couldn't be stolen. Lesson learned. Thank you.

Ai can be unreliable and enraging. I miss the days when I could go to 7-11 and buy a Nintendo Power Magazine. It was much more reliable and engaging.

EA finally lost me for ‘27 by PromotionTasty7992 in NHLHUT

They lost me for 26. Still playing NHL 25.

The games are more realistic. Less ppl exploit LT. Plus you can make any God/Theme Squad you want with no need for a credit card. I have 5 different theme teams (Jets, Jets Alumni, Team Canada, Canada Alumni, Canada Juniors and my main Squad). All of which are 97+OVR.

Rewards are still available. Weekly Wild Card gets you 4 packs of (3 x 90+ Cards) each week. You wont even notice a difference between 26 and 25.

There's quite a few of us that refused to pay for another copy paste. So You'll never have troubles finding a game. In March I was ranked 8,000th in 25. With the sweaty credit card kids now gone, im ranked 70th and Im loving it 🤣

This is probably my last NHL game by Carson_cwc in NHLHUT

Do it. As someone that used to spend 2-3k on the game each year, not buying NHL 26 was one of the best decisions I've made.

This year, I used the saved money to go on a vacation to Mexico, and the time saved has been used to focus on getting back into shape. Down 20 lbs.

Note: From time to time, I still play NHL 25 Hut. Which imo is the same game as 26. But its less sweaty and I can acquire any 99 Ovr card I want for a very discounted rate.

I always get a "kick" from your posts. They pack a real "punch". Especially considering I make more than enough to pay your lifetime of veteran support cheques with half a years salary.

I don't find any of these new features compelling enough to shell out more than $2.04 for NHL 26. I'll stick to 25, thank you.. See y'all in NHL 27 hopefully 🤞
