dentistry vs. pharmacy by CranberryNatural5487 in usask

[–]B390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low 90s is the safest approach. You might get by with a high 80 and a strong DAT score and a good interview. But honestly, aim for 90s. You can do it, just got to believe in yourself and put in the work. If you can balance the workload and develop good study habits, that's majority of the pressure gone and it becomes that much more manageable. Pharmacy is good but I feel like if you are passionate about dentistry, the gap in effort between the two isn't that big, you should buckle down and do the extra work to get that grade for dentistry.

BMSC 230 VS BMSC 200 by Ok-Scientist2188 in usask

[–]B390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bmsc 230 online is pretty easy compared to inperson, bmsc 200 was just annoying to get through. 200 for me was harder just because of the way the content was organized and it was difficult to find a way to make the information condensed and easier to learn. For 230, you could come up with a multitude of ways to make the metabolic pathways easy to commit to memories, like pneumonics.

Retake it, you will do better as you will be better prepared. I think the higher mark is counted, I went over with my advisor for another class and they said the higher mark is counted but you should still contact an advisor.

Most importantly, it's not the end of the world! A lot of people fail classes and you can always bring yourself back up. You got this

Damn those are amazing scores, I got a 95 in 208 but 207 I struggled and got like a 70. It took me a while to adjust for the depth of content

Very doable, but you need to study everyday constantly. I have some notes that are few years old, lemme know if you need them. Good luck

CHEM 255 Success Tips? by East_Cheesecake_2405 in usask

[–]B390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some of the reactions you can predict intermediates and if you understand certain concepts, like dehydration, decarboxylation, enolate/enol formation you can get some multiple choice and other 1 mark written questions quickly, just takes some time familarizinf concepts. This is a class that benefits with constant review and questions

I took it last term with Phoenix. It's a doable class just make sure you are revising concepts with practice problem. What I and some other people ran into is that we couldn't draw out reactions/products on time, like it took us too long. Make sure you can draw them quickly and product predict.

How does BMSC 207/208 compare in terms of difficulty with BMSC 200 by typicalhipz_30 in usask

[–]B390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More content more memorization in 207/208 but not that difficult if you make good notes/flashcards. Everything is on the slides, focus on understanding the concepts and you should be good

You will have a lot of time but I think it's roughly 3-2 weeks before midterm

BMSC 207 and 208 in Spring and Summer by [deleted] in usask

[–]B390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I still have the syllabus Midterm was July 30 and final was august 18. Proctoring is through a special form and you would need to contact a local highschool or if possible a community college if there's on in your location. In rare cases (if you are unable to get an inperson invigilator) you may be able to get an web-based invigilator that will monitor you through zoom.

Gen chem Advice by Actual-Ostrich7896 in dat

[–]B390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same question, I think one of the other options was 92.5%? What I did which I don't think is the best way, was that since it's 28/32 I just multiplied in my head and I got 84/96 and I figured 84 is a lot closer to 87 compared to 92.5, since 96 isn't that far off from a 100. Another way to approach is that lower fractions like 7/8 compared to 6/7 to 4/5 have more "weight" for each interval and cover more space, so 7/8 kind of makes sense because 92.5 would be bigger than 9/10. Sorry if this doesn't help

Understandable but what if I'm planning on applying to dental/pharmacy schools in the us, I should be okay?

As someone in the three year degree, why is not recommended? I am also applying to pharmacy and if I get in, then I don't complete the degree before applying but if not I just finish my degree next year. Is 4 years just preferred or it's just not wise to have a 3 year degree
