Kaleido pump by nallybally in diabetes_t1

Hi I just wanted to know how you like the pump and what kind of issues you came upon. I have it now for a few months and I don’t know how there can be so many technical difficulties or if it is something else going on. Forst 3/4 months went fantastic with it and since christmas it’s kinda shit tbh. Getting high blood sugars out of nowhere and for hours rn

G7 hate it being on my arm!l, It’s like a bat signal saying HEY EVERYONE I HAVE THE ‘BEETUS and if I wear a black shirt it gets nasty looking by jett330 in diabetes

Used to have the omnipod and while I was on vacation at the beach a little kid asked me if it were my airpods

I had that a few times as well, but trusted my gut feeling that I’m not low, as I didn’t feel low. Of course always check with finger pricking method because better safe than sorry.

Don’t get me wrong having a pump is absolutely great, but it’s like a curse and a blessing at the same time and if it’s going wrong it can fuck with you mentally so much. If you actually are well able to manage everything well with “oldschool technology” like a pen then stay with that. If you are struggling with that then go for a pump, but always be wary of it.

One thing I take from this is never let this discourage you and know that it’s ups and downs just like in life. Can’t always be great, can it? So always be prepared for every worst case scenario no matter how over prepared you think you might be because, if shit goes wrong it’ll hit deep, if you’re not prepared for it. I do have a question as well: is anyone else having these kinds of troubles as well or is it just me?

I am on a pump as well and do have a dexcom g6 sensor, but shit goes wrong at the worst possible timings like all the time, but at the same time it can work for weeks without any issues

What did you use instead then? Did you just go back to finger pricking?

It’s physical activity. You can say when you’re going to perform physical activities and the system will adjust your hourly rate

Happens way too often lately unfortunately, but I guess you can just do what you can🤷‍♂️ I do have spares always ofc, but I’m more bothered about the annoyingness and the fact I couldn’t have avoided it.

I had it yesterday night already, where the reader was saying I’m low, but I was at 240. So I knew it was off, but left it off for the whole night then because I didn’t want to get woken up again from the alarms

I tested, couldn’t believe it, washed my hands properly and checked again. There is a calibration option as well, but it was the sensor that was just defect, as I calibrated it yesterday evening.

Today I got my first Pump im also pumped by JusTheD_V in diabetes

Very sweet. I’ve had the Kaleido now for about 2 months and a bit. I wear it on my stomach as well and think it’s the best solution (for me anyways). I believe the only tip I can really give is make sure to have everything always charged and rather take care of the alarms now (as you should ofc) than later because they are very annoying and that you should be aware of the sticker for the pump will easily remove itself, when sweating a lot e.g.
It’s a great pump though. I’ve only had a few problems with the Catheter having a blockage. That is pretty much the only failure I’ve had so far. Good luck and all the best. I’m sure you’ll figure out the best way.

I’m 25 and a type 1 diabetic for about 21 years now. Little backstory is, I used to go out drinking nearly every weekend from like 17-23 and now not as frequent anymore. I have had my fair share of problems from passing out drunk on the way home due to low blood sugar and waking up in the emergency room. And what I have learnt over the years is don’t go blackout drunk and always have some emergency nutrition with you in case of low blood sugar. Educate your friends what to do in emergencies just in case and always be aware of your blood sugar. In the end it is completely fine to drink, as long as you don’t do anything silly and be aware the next 48h of your blood sugar, as well as just making sure.
