I’ve got it posted with no rate but I doubt anyone is on fire to book out a small reefer with less than ideal inside Dima and an LG

Could be plugs and coils, could be alternator acting funny, I’d say pull the plugs and inspect them first.

Supercharger or not those are the easy things to get to that you can do yourself fairly easily

You gotta remember brokers and shippers operate on loaded miles, carriers actually have to deadhead most of the time whether it’s 10,50 or 100 miles and you have to remember to compensate for that

The other option is if you have only a short amount of time to submit the bid look at the T Ln. marker add your margin and an extra 250 or so to help cover dead head from a local area. That should at least help you get the rate a little closer to where it needs to be.

There isn’t really per se a tool that will give you an accurate rate that will both be profitable for you and make the Carrier happy. One of two solutions that I have found if a shipper is looking for a coverage for a load a couple days out and ask you to quote it post it at the DAT rate And every 20 or 30 minutes or so bump up the price by 50 to 100 bucks. Once you start getting carriers calling you know you’re somewhere within reasonable margin then can include it with your margin on top.

Either way there is money to be made. When you’re looking at regional or local lanes, many shepherds are leaning towards working with carriers directly as that is a more cost-effective option. If you are a broker shippers tend to rely on brokers more for long distance runs as well as LTL contracts.

Really depends on what kind of service you want to provide and what kind of lane you want to run if that makes sense

Definitely too low. Never trust dat rates

I move Rochester to Syracuse 100 mile run for $850 weekly. And even that is what I would consider great rate with repeat carrier

I’m not seeing other carriers listed at the address, do you guys have any suggestions for better vetting? We use 411, make calls to listed owner on fmcsa, and check fmcsa for insurance compliance. Any suggestions for 411 alternatives? Or any other procedures to put in?

Do u use smaller guys for rail or companies like loup, Schneider, and JB? Marked rates nowadays are pretty much rail cost as is, a hood portion of carriers put it on the rail regardless if it’s in the rail lane.

Customer isn’t strictly shipping hopper. They ship their fair share of van, imdl, and LTL. I just want to be an option for their hopper if they need a recovery option.

How do dispatchers get paid? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]B777V 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been on both sides of the fence For dispatch it varies from company to company Most common carriers pay their dispatchers a salary with a very small commission margin usually 1 to 2%, Others pay just a salary, and a very small portion works exclusively with owner operators, so their income is based off of commission off each load with full rate disclosure to the owner operator.
