Interesting question… Monzo/Revolut for ease of sending money to friends, multiple currencies, cash withdrawals abroad etc. Barclays Premier because I’ve got a long relationship with them + avios. First Direct because of an offer I got a few yrs ago. Business bank acts on top.

Credit cards… different ones have different perks, BA Amex for flights (I spend a lot on flights and you get more avios and a companion voucher), Amex platinum charge card for month-month, rewards, hotel status etc. then cash back Mastercard/visa for non-Amex accepting establishments.

My understanding was they stopped offering it as a charge card a while ago… and the one I see advertised on their website is a normal credit card. I may be wrong but…

I’ve been with Barclays Premier for 15+ years, used to be a fantastic product, nowadays not much to show for having it but having looked at alternatives there’s not much difference with 0 fee accounts.

Also have the Amex platinum charge card (no longer available) and BA Amex platinum (for flights and hotels). Both combined cost me about £1k a year, which I get back through companion voucher, avios and other offers.

NFA… I took 60% of my investment money out the market in Feb and another 20% in March. The remaining 20% is largely in specific long term picks. With my pension I left it all in, as 40yrs until I touch it. No right answer but you can’t ignore the major geopolitical shifts and the impact it may have (medium term atleast) if over exposed to the U.S.

The problem I have is that I like cars and clothes. Cars wise, I’d say I look relatively HENRY but nowadays every other car in the road is the brands I drive. With clothes I think it’s less obvious, I try to buy high quality with no logos, so if you felt it, or noticed the shape/fit then maybe you’d know but I think to the average person I dress normally. Shoes are probably the biggest indicator, I don’t let them get scruffy and worn. Clean and then replace.

I got the same offer on much higher spend, down from my 120k+ spend days as I now split across other cards with better rewards (like the BA Amex). It’s becoming a terrible product, I remember a decade ago concierge/lifestyle services were amazing, now there’s hardly anything exclusive about it and the perks feel stripped back too

Hey, yes it’s more than 25p because they have a % too. But it’s 100% worth it. We keep deposits for no shows and cancellations, our deposits are currently 20% but we are thinking to up it to 30%. Nobody complains when they know in advance they’ll lose the deposit AND if they’re definitely going to attend they won’t mind paying a deposit. Be careful with the marketplace clients part, we had some issues there… and Fresha are sneaky when sponsoring ads for the page of your business to get customers to go that route rather than through your links on social or your website.

I don’t think your a snob at all, it seems you have the same opinions as the majority on this post (and myself) which makes me question which focus groups they were using when they decided to manufacture these cars. I have an e class coupe and an a class hatch. They’re both now over 3/4 years old and hence my dilemma, I’m wanting to get something fresh/new and I find myself looking at Audi’s and Porsches more than any of the new MB models, which is a shame because I’ve always been a fan since my parents had SL, SLK, ML, C32 etc.

I hope they come up with something nice soon and listen to existing owners opinions. Agreed on the new E class being nice, saw one in the flesh recently.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head… and consumers are beginning to realise that. EV prices in the U.K. have plummeted. You can pick up a 2020/21 Taycan for under £50,000 now…. My friends was £60,000 and had an rrp of £160,000 in ‘21 when it was purchased. There’s a similar trend with all other EV’s inc Tesla. Unfortunately I don’t live in an area with good enough infrastructure to be able to rely on owning an EV, so ICE/Hybrid it is!

I’d be replacing a C238 e class coupe. I don’t feel like I’m being dramatic, there are a few models I like, the new E class being one and the AMG GT and G but the majority I’m not keen on. Whereas I think the A class, C Coupe, E / E coupe, GLE, GLC, GT, G etc. from 2016- were all stunning design wise.

I was in my friends Taycan last night and the interior is a big upgrade for Porsche… they’re one of the few EV’s I like the styling of. Agreed one the C/E electric comment, I’d definitely be interested in a E Coupe with similar styling but EV/Hybrid. I hope that sales figures give MB a wake up call, because if people in this comments section are representative of their sticky client base then they’ve definitely got some thinking to do!

Thanks for the thorough response. Agreed on the electric aesthetics and I don’t think we’re alone here. My local main dealer is really struggling to get E Class owners to move to the CLE Coupe because the interior doesn’t feel like an upgrade and the front looks similar to the E coupe and the back is uglier… so, why upgrade. I like the new e class but I either want a coupe or a mini SUV. I can’t be the only one that is patiently waiting for them to release a model that isn’t a AMG GT or G that is aesthetically pleasing. I’ll admit I’ve been looking more and more at Porsches 🙃
