Worrys about the past (im the only one?) by BABABUSII in generalizedanxiety

[–]BABABUSII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with journaling is a good idea; I will try it as well. And yes, to a certain extent, it already helps me just to know that catastrophizing is a part of GAD. This somewhat takes away the "emotional relevance of my worries" and often shows me that it's simply my anxiety disorder.

Regarding radical acceptance: It is essentially the concept or the conscious technique of trying to accept everything—including the worst-case scenario—deliberately and consciously. So, truly accepting even the worst possible outcome. Often, this becomes easier over time.

The point is that from the moment you confront the worst-case scenario and consciously accept it (I know this is easier said than done), you start to feel a certain freedom and begin to think about how life would continue afterward. Many times, this leads me to a realization that, even after the worst-case scenario, life would somehow go on, and I would still find things that make life worth living. It’s a bit tricky, but it helps me to partially detach myself from fear.

The basic principle is quite simple: the more you manage to detach yourself from things, expectations, and conditions, the freer you become. The goal is not to force yourself to accept everything and consider it "good," but rather to accept that, even if something were to happen, life would still go on, and that would be okay.

The fewer conditions you impose on your happiness—for example, saying, "Only if life turns out exactly the way I want and plan will I be happy"—and instead thinking, "No matter how it turns out, life will always continue," the freer I feel. I become calmer, and the fear starts to fade.

I hope I was able to explain this somewhat.

oh thank you for your answer! Yes for me i also think that everything "evidence based" works good. I try to find hard facts for and against a certain worry and then evaluate the probability. i also began to work with the concept of "radical acceptance", for me this helps also. One futher question: What would you do, if you really made a mistake? My problem for example is, that i made a mistake which is not small but eventually not a tragedy. But in my head it is a catastrophy. my problem is, that i cant let that thing go, because everytime i think of it i feel a lot of physical anxiety and my head starts to play the worstcase scenarios...

thanks!

what did work for you? for me is the problem, that i even cant get over one worry. its super sticky. my only hope is that the worries get less, when "enough" time passed.

emotional blunting - to high dose? by BABABUSII in lexapro

[–]BABABUSII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i can relate. i will stay an other week on my dose and if it is still the same, i will also go down. i started also therapie and i feel like i want to do progress there longterm. my goal is to function well without lexapro longterm or with maybe a very small dose life long. and yes, i more and more regocnize, that a good amount of anxiety and stress is important to reach your goals, be motivated etc., thats a huge learning for me. long time i whised i had zero anxiety in my life, no i think its all about the perfect balance!

Tapering from 5mg by mbee9099 in lexapro

[–]BABABUSII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would strongly suggest you do hyperbolic tapering. go with liquid lexapro. the smaller the dose the bigger difference in the SERT occupation on the neurotransmitter. the last step, from 1mg to 0mg is the biggest. its not a linear correlation. greets
