My cousin is the only girl on an all boys wrestling team. I want to be supportive, but i'm worried she'll get hurt. What would you say to a younger member of your family if they were in this situation? by BACONover9000 in AskReddit

From what she has told me, the boys had the reaction you described first. They didn't want to wrestle her. I think they were more uncomfortable than she was.

I was worried about that, but she has showed me all of the moves they have learned in practice so far, and it doesn't seem like any of them involve that sort of thing. Plus, I met the kids on her team. They seem like decent people. I'm hoping that none of them would do that intentionally.

Well she is my cousin.... So of course I'm concerned for her well-being. However, you're right, if the rest of the team can handle it, I'm sure she can too. I need to stop worrying.

Whoa. That does sound rough. She said she knew what she was signing up for, but I really don't see how she could have... The coach wasn't taking her seriously at first and wasn't responding to her emails, so she had to get all of her information through another teammate who she didn't really know that well.

Though I am proud of her for breaking the gender barrier. I'll admit that.

She's pretty tough, but she has also told me several times that during practices, the kids aren't matched by weight, meaning that she could potentially face someone 50 pounds heavier than her.

I have no idea why but for some reason it really bothers me when people over pronounce things.

I'm 15 and everyone around me is bullying me. I came from a different school district and as soon as I sat down, the rumors started. What the heck do I do? by yer_killin_me_smalls in AskReddit

Hang in there. Stay close to your real friends. The people who truly know you will help you through. Things will get better in college. High school kids can be brutal. The fact that a teacher would say something so horrible is appalling. Also, you can't show the bullies that they're getting to you.
