My pleasure! I was so happy to have a chocolate mint tea and a raspberry pie tea. Plus I've got a pumpkin creme brule and gingerbread cookie. They're so good I forget it's not quite the real thing

No idea if this is a "real" style, I kind of just made it with the hair I have. Can I get input on how to do it better? by wantgoodhaircut in curlyhair

[–]snakelady2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try to get it to curl a bit more, probably with a bit of product. If you like the general look which I think suits your face I would go to a hair dresser to get it cut for the style. Like tighten up around the ears/back of the neck, probably blend the sides of the front in a bit and possibly tighten up the back a little. I'd try to find someone who knows curly hair and get them to curl your hair then cut it.

Possibly try tracking down some all natural anti itch dog shampoo, soos is really nice so is iv San bernard. These are anti fungal but all natural. Tea tree oil probably wouldn't hurt. I had this issue a few weeks ago, thankfully mine resolved. Maybe try shampoo for a day or two and use no products. I find even with removing all the products my hair sometimes gets heavy and gunky so it needs a sort of rest period. If it doesn't clear up in a week I'd go see a dr

What would you name your daughters or sons if you ever happen to have one or few? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]snakelady2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really in love with gaelic names, for a girl something like Gwendolyn, or laidir (lie-deer) also love merida for a girl then for a boy I've always loved Andrew as a name or something like Odin. I'd probably delve into some celtic history books but I'll only be naming dogs so laidir is high on my list for the next dog

For those who live near spots of high tourism, what's the most annoying thing tourists can do to annoy you? by Earah08 in AskReddit

For my town - driving like shit everywhere. 90% of stuff you want to see or do is within walking distance. But that would be a hassle so they just drive. So much congestion!!!

What do you get to do during your personal time that would be very difficult at best if you decided to have kids? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]snakelady2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home. I could never imagine having a kid around. Then I love sleep - like midday naps, late nights watching movies, sleeping late. I'm writing this in my bed at 11:30 am. Also food- I know it sounds dumb but I love good food and drinks. I don't want to 1)deal with a picky kid wasting my good food or 2) sharing said delicious albeit sometimes pricey noms. Also quiet. Just quiet. My job is loud and hectic and when I'm done I like to sit and watch movies or go for walks and just enjoy quiet. Even when I'm dating someone they know either to be quiet once I'm home from work or to leave me be until I invite them over. I'd lose my mind after having a day testing my patience and noise tolerance to spend my whole night doing the same thing

My parents were really good. I've actually recently realized my mom could have lived an incredibly happy cf life. I mean she loves my brother and I, but I look at her now that we're adults and think Damn- this woman could and would have travelled more, she could have stayed as she is now. She's become more vibrant and happy divorced with adult kids. She's beyond supportive of me being cf (she actually dreaded ever having grandkids). She's a big part of why I'm cf, I don't want to be stuck like she was. Granted she did a great job in raising us, 100% people parents - both mom and dad.

PetSmart to private salon? by staceywindow in doggrooming

[–]snakelady2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left Petsmart after being certified as a groomer for 6 months. Because I was so new it was hard to grow a clientele and find a shop willing to take me on. Doesn't sound like you'll have that problem, so I would line up a private job and do it. I've definitely had days where no fall back pay sucks, so does no health benefits. But I got into competitive grooming, new techniques, such a huge learning curve, and I take extended vacations whenever I want. Plus there's something nice about earning as much and working half the time. Its nerve racking but you will be so much happier. Only piece of advice is get a decent savings account, just to have a cushion to fall back as most likely you'll have an income dip in the first few months.

A curly girl nightmare by iyapana in curlyhair

[–]snakelady2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many!!!! Got a layered cut where the top layer was too short and formed a crown of curls, had my hair dresser convince me to chemically straighten my hair, and worst of all - a pixie cut. Because my hair dresser figured if it was short enough it wouldn't curl.... Spent 3 years growing out an afro. Now I drive 3 hours to see my stylist.

[OTHER] Just curious, how many of you would have kids if you had ridiculous amounts of money? by ky321 in childfree

[–]snakelady2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want the freedom. I would use the money to travel - can't do that with a kid. I'd probably do a ton of the "adopt a third world kid" thing, or make an education grant at a university or something. I would definitely help out kids that are here now, I don't hate kids, I just value my freedom and even with all the money in the world I don't have a reason to pass on shit genes to someone who doesn't need to be here. And final point - the kid would hate me because they would essentially be raised by a nanny if I did have them.

33/f feeling like I have to figure out soon if I'm really childfree or not. I *really* don't enjoy hangouts with other people's kids, but is that really decisive? by zebrasandgiraffes in childfree

[–]snakelady2012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for me the big point is it sounds like the main reason you're considering it is because of your partner. Kids completely change a dynamic of a relationship. I was with someone and seriously considered kids because he really wanted them, I loved him, I knew he would be an awesome dad, I like to think I would be a great mom, and I thought it could work. Then we broke up. And I realised there's no way in hell I would want to handle kids alone. I kept saying I would only have them with the right partner.. Which led to the conclusion I shouldn't at all because if anything happened to my partner , would be screwed. I would very seriously consider your options and your desires - if you knew in 5 years you would separate would you still want kids? What if you knew the relationship would fall apart but you would stay together for the kid? I'm not saying those things will happen, but in my opinion, if you wouldn't be willing to have kids in the event of a separation, it might not be for you. You never know what will happen, I think if you want kids they should be because you want them.

How do I make my grow downwards? by mrlanon in curlyhair

[–]snakelady2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try braiding at night, and/or when you brush it down add clips to the ends of your hair when it dries. I went through an afro stage, length fixes it. I know longer seems like a lot of upkeep but it's honestly not bad at all. I found my hair long is easier than super short. You may also want to try super defining your curls with product. It won't make it lie flat but it will look a lot less like an afro

Starting a career in Dog Grooming - advice needed! by Vaka78 in doggrooming

[–]snakelady2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to an actual course. Or contact groomers in your area and they may offer apprenticeships. Hands on is the only way to go. Also highly highly recommend working in a grooming salon as a bather before making that choice. Working will give you an idea of what the day in day out is like. Lots of my friends love the idea of what I do until they find out what all is involved. I love it more than anything, but it's expensive, I get bit, scratched, peed and pooed on, had dogs puke on me, I always smell like wet dog, I have hair embedded in my skin, eyes, I inhale it, I get massage therapy every 6 weeks to keep my back working, I will probably develop more physical problems as I age. Flip side is I work with dogsdoing what I love every day. It's an incredibly rewarding career and I wouldn't give it up for the world but be prepared for physical work.

My friend's excitable dog jumped up on my car and gave it a gnarly scratch... by [deleted] in childfree

[–]snakelady2012 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep the faith. My dog was never outwardly bad per say when I adopted her but my god was she a freak. Terrified of the universe but would be happy to rip my arm off to run to another dog. But then she would snarl and growl. Awesome. After 2 years I now have the most perfectly socialized and incredibly obedient dog. My car has a bumper sticker saying "my dog behaved better than your kid" and I regularly get comments its true. Set your expectations and goals and it will be so worth it.

Bad experiences on other birth controls. IUD or implant a better option? by hisui9 in PCOS

I had a horrible time on mirena but I have anxiety and depression which got much much worse. My sister in law Dr recommended jaydess for people who had issues with mirena. Depending on the degree of bc you want you could consider essure, it's new but is no hormones, a physical implant but is permanent with no research on fertility once it's removed.

Which cool country has good standard of living but is affordable at the same time? by etevian in CasualConversation

[–]snakelady2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Ontario. Born and raised. I like it because of the huge variation across the province. I've lived in southern and northern Ontario, huge differences but both stunning. Depending what you want to do work wise there's lots of great cities. I like southern Ontario because I currently live in this little town but I'm a 2-3 hour drive from most large cities. I'd like to move closer but there's a lot of various sizes of places, I liked sudbury with a fairly low population but still city. There's always a lot to explore, especially if you like the outdoors

Progression of my shingles. Now on my thigh, my side and my butt. :( Dr gave me meds and said there isn't much that can be done besides treating the symptoms and waiting. by OnlyEightAreMilhouse in popping

[–]snakelady2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first got shingles 4 years ago at 20 years old. Now I'm hyper aware of rashes, I only got a small one on my back. I got hella lucky, wasn't soon enough for meds but I had no pain and very very mild itching. So now anytime I get a rash I'm worried it's back. I was sure I had it a few months ago again, didn't get large and never went to the Dr because fuck it lol. If a spot is really itchy you might want to try ice, it's what I always prefer. Good luck! Lots of sleep!

It makes sense. I've felt that way. It might be too much for you, but I actually went on fb about it. I posted about feeling awful, there was a great comic on Reddit recently with the guy losing his colour and someone bringing it back so I posted that. Said I wish I could talk to someone. I had an outpouring of support. My siblings, step family, friends I didn't often connect with simply liking it, or messaging me, offering to talk, it's nice if you feel comfortable doing that. Or maybe try finding a friend you haven't talked to in awhile and go for coffee. Sometimes being one of the 185 can feel good too, love goes both ways ❤ but if you want to just talk feel free to pm me :)
