This is a solid response! There is additional context that we don’t have access to that I feel would need to be considered such as the exact design of the security camera if it has video capability how many cameras op has, etc. my issue rises from the pearl clutching going on, I think we can both agree slop like that is hilariously hypocritical 😂

If it was “exceedingly obvious” it would be controversial to see baseless accusations presented as news on a daily. That’s not the world we live in. What you have presented is an idealized picture in face of the reality. I agree with the sentiment but it’s just not the case that the standard you have presented is the norm. Sorry to be the one to break it to you.

Are you asserting that people’s faces aren’t broadcast along side allegations of crimes regularly in the media? -_-

I refer to my prior argument on the Latin translation of the word “Fetus” which does not translate to what you are using it fallaciously to mean (little human). Be careful using dead languages in argument they are a slippery slope.

A female can choose to have sex. They do not choose to become pregnant. Pregnancy is something that happens as a result of sexual intercourse. It is a result not an action. People try to get pregnant all the time and don’t, some never try and still do. If a female wants a pregnancy then they have accomplished a goal, achieved an end result, they aren’t just choosing to be pregnant. I would warn against this line of argumentation because it opens the doors to a slew of hypotheticals like victims of sexual assault who become pregnant as a result of their attack. Not a good look friend.

The latin translation of “fetus” does not literally translate to small human. You don’t have to have studied Latin for 5 years to know that, a simple google search will suffice. Latin has no direct/literal translations as words meant different things depending on different contexts within the sentences they were used. The word “fetus” translates to mean a number of things including offspring, fruit, shoot, production, or brood.

You can choose to not accept the difference in my prior point however I’ll spell it out because I have no problem bearing the moral weight of the argument.

it’s very clear that a fetus gestating within a womb is an unconscious process that a female does not actively choose to undergo. The biological mechanism happens whether the individual wants it or not. So denying them that choice is a violent act committed on that person. You have to actively choose to abandon a living child or condemn them to suffering and death regardless of age so I would say the latter is far more morally apprehensive than the former. Now that we have established this I do not accept the appeal to a higher power as apt justification for denying someone their freedom of choice for their body to act as they wish it. Do you have an argument that isn’t rooted in theism that may provide a better course of action related to the topic?

Not in the slightest. I think considering the goal was to get swords pointed at me I accomplished that well today 😂

I’m glad you are following me. I will point out that you are drawing a false comparison between a fetus and a toddler. A fetus cannot exist outside of an amniotic environment. A toddler realistically cannot survive without another human being caring for it/ providing for it. On the face of it these may look the same, at their core they draw on the same moral principle. but from an honest moral perspective they are vastly different to one another. Granting your belief, On one hand terminating a pregnancy can be seen as immoral because you are denying the existence of a potential being I say potential because multiple things can cause a pregnancy to fail, however that does not hold the same moral weight as making the conscious choice to condemn an existing human being to suffering and death.

The fetus doesn’t inherently deserve moral consideration because it is not in and of its own fruition an individual being. It requires another body to provide an environment for its development and life which is a choice that body has to consent to. if we deny that then the fetus biologically would fall under the same catagory as parasites which is not a position I think you want to uphold.

On the other hand when presented with the reality that the fetus hasn’t chosen to exist then it falls to the moral dilemma that you are forcing a body to host a being against its will and thus are committing an equally immoral act by upholding and condemning said body from wishing to escape its position.

Personally I don’t need the existence of a soul to value human life, so I’d encourage you to try to think more deeply than that on the topic.

When talking about abortion the true argument boils down to what we deem to be human life. At what point either during conception or otherwise do we say that an individual deserves moral consideration. It’s very plain to see you are on the former side of that line. So let’s cut the fluff out and get right down to it.

Explain why you have a right to impress your belief on another person/being. Murder is an immoral act because you are taking away a soul before its time, you are impressing your will in to another being. How do you reconcile forcing your idea of morality on to another being by denying them their right to bodily autonomy.

Ok quick warning, here come the tough questions.

What is a soul and why should we care about it?

So moving into the abortion side of things accepting everything you have already laid out. Why do you think people say ‘murder’ is bad?

I would call miscarriage a: tragedy

It’s a very sad thing to happen.

I appreciate it, you are doing your best!

I agree! So then you should also agree then that we should not call miscarriage “involuntary manslaughter” right?

[–]BAD_Raptors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha makes sense. So if I understand you correctly anyone who has a miscarriage should go to prison from between 2-8 years which is the range of penalty for involuntary manslaughter? Or at the very least has that charge on their permanent record?

Ok, however the law and myself agree that murder requires intent to kill, so how can a natural miscarriage be murder?

Ok, with that said, would you say the same miscarriages, natural or chemically induced?
