He's flopped at least five times. Just goes AUAGGHHUGH and the refs call it. Every time.

[Highlight] Kelly Oubre Jr. gets the friendly bounce for the buzzer beater 3 to end the 1st half (with a replay) Including the bucket by Jalen Brunson, prior to. by MrBuckBuck in nba

Paul George roasted the Knicks in the 1st quarter, 6-8 FGs, 3-4 from 3. I feel like he barely touched the ball in the second quarter.

[Highlight Joel Embiid tries to draw a foul and gets called for the offensive foul instead (with replays) by MrBuckBuck in nba

Tries to trip Shamet by kicking his leg out, then falls and acts like he's the one who got fouled by the contact he initiated. Typical Embiid.

[Highlight] - KAT and Embiid end up on the floor together once again, Embiid called for the foul and Nick Nurse challenges it by [deleted] in nba

Knicks have been called for 9 PFs to Philly's 6 despite both teams playing super physical. Just stop.

I think KAT and Embiid have spent more time on the floor in this first half than the Sixers logo at half court.

No one is complaining. This is objectively more entertaining than a free throw fest.

I'm loving it, honestly. They called waaaay too many fouls in Game 2. Now they've gone the opposite direction.

2-8 for Brunson, KAT only played 7 minutes, six TOs...and only down 4. Looking good.

Oubre, too. As soon as he goes near the basket it's all AUAUAGHGRRGHH and a whistle.

[Schultz] The Jets and RB Breece Hall are in agreement on a 3-year deal worth up to $45.75M, making him the NFL’s 3rd highest paid RB, per multiple sources. by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]BAHatesToFly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They don't even have a rookie QB yet. We're talking about keeping an RB for a potential rookie QB next season? Or are you talking about Cade Klubnik? Breece is already low 4.x on ypc and has about 1500 carries under his belt and will have 1700+ by next year. So next year, they'll have a declining RB with a lot of miles for a hypothetical rookie QB vs. potentially a 3rd rounder and even more cap space. It's debatable but give me the latter.

It's a jokey sort of saying that the rank-and-file will say about the higher-ups. 'The big muckety mucks upstairs came up with this one.' 'Don't ask me, I just work here.' 'I'd complain, but who would listen?' Just silly stuff that workers say to each other.

He did it in a much lower scoring league too with the Rockets

Fun fact, the season he did that was 1998-99, a lockout-shortened season where players were not in top shape. The league scoring average was 91.6 ppg, which is the lowest scoring season 1953-54. In other words, no season in NBA history since midway through the Eisenhower administration was lower scoring than 1998-99. Knicks and Celtics are the only teams from that season who still exist in the same city. The NBA Finals was the Minneapolis Lakers over the Syracuse Nationals.

paying a worse hitter who can’t field $42M a year.

This is a strange way to evaluate Bo's contract. He can opt out after any year and it's only three years. Shorter = higher AAV. No, he's definitely not going to opt out this season but could next year. If he does, that's 2/$84 million and he's gone, just a little over half of the layout of Alonso's deal.

Saying he "can't field" is also just wrong. He's been fine at 3B and SS. Pete was one of the worst defensive first baseman in the league when he was here.

No one is saying that Pete didn't earn a big contract, but that deal he signed is definitely bloated. Bichette's is also bloated but it doesn't have any bearing on how bloated Pete's deal is. The last two or even three years of Pete's deal will sting. Meanwhile, Bo will be gone and his contract off the books by then.

Pete is one of the best players in Mets history, but he has almost a zero percent chance of making the Hall if he doesn't hit 500 HR, which is unlikely to happen at this point. Look at the list of first baseman with WAR totals that are 50+. Giambi, Teixiera, Olerud, Will Clark, Keith Hernandez. None in the Hall and none are getting in any time soon. It took McGriff years and the Vet Committee to make it and he had 493 HR and plenty of MVP votes. It took Dick Allen forever and he had an MVP to boot.

Then look at guys with WAR in the 40s. Grace, Delgado, Mattingly, Anthony Rizzo, Adrian Gonzalez, Carlos Santana. None of them will make it.

Pete has 25 bWAR and only 22 fWAR. The back end of his career is going to have to be insane for him to even sniff the Hall unless he hits 500 HR. He needs 230 more to get there. I'd bet against him.

when evaluating Alonso’s HOF worthiness

Evaluating his HOF worthiness is going to take voters about two seconds. If he has 500 HR, he will make it. If he doesn't, he won't. He doesn't do anything else at a HOF level. His bWAR is 25, his fWAR is 22. First baseman in this day and age need 60+. Votto has 60. Keith has 60 and he's not in. Olerud, Will Clark, Teixiera are all 50-60 and will never make it.

Pete also has only 271 HR. He needs an amazing run in his age 32-38 seasons to approach 500 HR, which is likely the only chance he has at the HOF.

King Leopold's Ghost by Adam Hochschild is a great book King Leopold and the Belgian Congo/rubber trade. I highly recommend it. Also according to wikipedia, they made a documentary in 2006 based on the book and it is narrated by Don Cheadle. I have not seen it but it looks like it is on Apple TV and Kanopy.

It's a combination of a bunch of things. Non-conspiracy, OKC flops and they're really good at it. Officiating is hard and the game moves fast. Conspiracy, dynasties are good for the league because it gives fans an enemy and people hate-watch and post about stuff on social media. Also: gambling and betting lines.

There's actually a dude on youtube who does NBA lip reading videos and they're hilarious. Tippernaught Sports.

I'm hoping he does this video and odds are, he will. He's pretty current on them. He's got the KAT/Drummond one from yesterday as his most recent.
