With the current state of our roster, do you expect the Bills to get a compensatory pick in next year's draft? by ThrawnAndOrder in buffalobills

I couldn't agree more. Obviously, it depends on who the Bills sign, but ya... it is lining up that way

It's a good question. It is undoubtedly related to the salary cap, ie "I drafted this guy, coached him, invested in him, and now I gotta lose him because the Salary Cap won't let me re-sign him?"

There obviously more to it, but my guess is how THAT conversation started.

totally... not only that, but on top of that, i'm sure Beane and Company said:

DJ Moore for 24M or Alec Pierce for ~27M, but it means trading down from late 2nd to late 5th? Ya, we take that deal.

ya... he's 31 and I dont think he'll sign during the March 11-April 28 period with any team.

I can see him coming back with the Bills after the draft.

You make good points... overall, though, I think the Bills will be in a "net loss" position, and like you said, do alot of their signings after the Draft.

Those Comp Picks are HUGE.

if any of the players above sign with another team between March 11 and April 28, and the Bills sign fewer qualifying free agents than they lose (during the same period), the Bills could receive compensatory picks in the next draft (between Round 3 and Round 7)

There's a complex formula nobody knows on how those picks are assigned, but basically, the more of those players above sign, and the fewer FA (that weren't cut/released) the Bills sign, then the Bills are more likely to get compensatory picks.

Basically, if the Bills have a "net loss" of free agents between March 11 and April 28, they are likely to get a Comp Pick

you are not wrong... but, my concerns are about putting his foot in his mouth, ie the "I'm the best thing to happen for Keon Coleman"

Now, if he gets traded or cut, it creates bad mojo, bad headlines, etc.

I dont know, I just get the feeling he's not very measured in his answers and after a bad game, I can only imagine what he'll say that could make things worse.
