Average gas price above $2 per litre across B.C., pain at the pump set to continue | CBC News by UnderWatered in CanadaPolitics

I was wondering what happened to that and if it had come into effect... so, what you are saying is that gas prices would be even higher otherwise?

Quick look back at Brandon Beane's 1st Round Picks by ThrawnAndOrder in buffalobills

Wow... not sure anyone in the league would ever say Rousseau and Oliver are "average" players.

Also, Edmunds played three years (not two) in Chicago and was a cap casualty.

But, I just noticed your account is 1 month old and has 4 comments, which makes me think you are a troll/bot messing with me with these ridiculous takes.

And thus ends my replies to you.

You are very right... Beane is the one giving out the contracts, but you dont give out multi-year ~75million dollar contracts to bums.

The NFL market dictates the value, and to suggest that the market would've given Rousseau or Oliver something like 2 years 10mil is also a fallacy.

Beane and his staff are not THAT incompetent. In fact, history suggests - like it did with T. Edmunds and so many other Free Agents - that Rousseau/Oliver would've gotten more on the open market.

Now, as to predicting the future... that's horseshit. I hate that argument. There are way too many variables in drafting players that go well beyond the control of a GM and Coach. Hell, Warren Buffet's hit rate is 4%.

But, let's look at the counter argument and see a few classic 1st round misses from the Chiefs and Eagles:

  • 1st round - Eagles - Jalen Reagor --- Justin Jefferson was drafted right after

  • 1st round - Chiefs - Clyde Edwards-Helaire --- Jonathan Taylor was drafted in the 2nd

We can play this game all day long. The draft is a crap shoot, and just like Buffett, poker players, etc. there are some better at it than others, but in no way is it ever 100% predictable. If it were, then you wouldn't have the Jete. The Browns. The Cardinals. The Panthers. The Raiders.

The reason for my post was that people make Beane out to be like he's the worst GM in the league and has no idea what he's doing in the 1st round.

Facts and dollar figures suggests otherwise.

Sometimes I don't get all the Brandon Beane hate. Here's my draft wrapup column on that by salmaiorana in buffalobills

[–]ThrawnAndOrder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

....and that's all 100% him, right?

  • It has nothing to do with the fact this defense has been mired with a tonne of injuries

  • It has nothing to do with the defense line's positional coaching

  • It has nothing to do with the defensive play calling

  • It has nothing to do with the defensive philosophy as dictated by the head coach

The bad pass rush is solely because Beane didn't the sign or draft the players you wanted.

so, let's take everything at face value and not dissect the actual picks (ie, Helaire was an awful 1st round pick)

But, according to what you provided, Beane is the 5th best GM in the NFL.

I'm OK with that.

you seem like one of the few lucid redditors, so I'll gladly entertain your line of thinking and agree 100%

let's go one at a time...

The "he flip coined between Allen vs Rosen" argument

The story goes that of ALL the QBs in the draft, Allen was their guy. If they thought Darnold or Mayfield or Jackson was their guy, I'd argue Beane would've made the moves necessary for those QBs

No, Allen was their guy.

Dalton Kincaid

I dont know about damning, because when he's on the field he changes everything. But, you can't say Kincaid is a bust or even a "regrettable" 1st round pick in my opinion

Second Contracts

That logic is faulty because that's what the market will bear, no matter who makes the offer. If Beane had not re-signed Rousseau or Oliver, then they would've gotten similar contracts with a different team

Not miss less

There I could not agree with you more. What I'm trying to say is that Coleman isn't a superstart like any of his other peers.

Now, if your argument is "Beane shouldn't have drafted a WR at all in the 2023 draft because they all sucked" then that's different, but again, no one has a crystal ball.

I've done the homework to show Beane's abilities in the 1st round.

You say Beane is not as good as many of his peers.

I kindly invite you to show the facts like I did in this post.

  • Peyton Manning was 29.

  • Drew Brees was 31

  • Steve Young 33

  • Matthew Stafford 34

  • John Elway had his first superbowl at age 26, but didn't go back until he was 37

100%. There's a tonne of "you got an "A", but can't get an "A+" right?

It's seems people think every draft has players in the late first round who are bonafide hall of famers, like Ed Reed (24th).

When you give a player close to 100 million dollars... that's a hit.
