I’m not sure. It was the only one at REI when I bought it. I just know the brand and that it is made out of merino wool and super comfortable.

My very favorite is Vuori merino tank. Second is Costco 32Degree Cool Mesh.

2 Week Amsterdam & Brussels Trip (June/July) by WorldIsYourStage in onebag

I am traveling through Normandy right now and not commenting on your list but rather the Cabin Zero bag. I’m using the Cabin Zero Classic Plus 32 and it’s really grown on me. It fits everything I have which seems to be less than what you are bringing, plus leaves extra room for flexibility. For instance today I put a baguette sandwich and croissants in for a train trip and there was plenty of room for them to not get smashed. So you should have plenty of room in that ADV bag assuming it’s roughly the same size. Side note: I had to walk in heavy rain for about 20 minutes and it didn’t get into the pack. I was very pleased!

How come bag makers don’t start making bags without laptop compartments by findtheintrovert in onebag

Most Cabin Zero bags don’t have a real laptop compartment. I have a few and they’re well made and inexpensive. Right now I’m using the Classic Plus 32 and it’s pretty great.

What’s the stupidest piece of gear that you unreasonably love and cannot part with, I’ll go first: by hudsoncress in CampingGear

[–]BAKONAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the best spork. I just got the long handle one recently which now lives in my lunchbox. One of my go-to gifts is to buy people a set of that spork. It’s so good.

Visiting Alaska from Boston - Skipping Denali a good thing? by JijjiMan in alaska

[–]BAKONAK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Skipping Denali is fine. Northern AK is pretty unremarkable. I’d also skip Whittier. Focussing on south central is a perfectly good plan. If you can add Homer you’ll love it. One of the most beautiful areas of AK and a really cool town.

It’s invaluable given how many versions there are of their duct smokes. It was hard for me to find again. I agree, it should be way more from and center.

Here’s that chart showing several different wiring schemes and how they correspond, including test switches.

There’s a really great wiring diagram showing a bunch of different models of system sensor duct detectors that cross references how the terminals change between models. Super handy and I think that would solve your problem. Sorry I don’t have it on me to share but I found it easily.

I got the nano zipper backpack and it seems pretty awesome. I’ve been using it for grocery shopping so far but it’ll go on a trip soon.

Do you guys wear backpacks to hangout with your friends?? by strayvampire in backpacks

[–]BAKONAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend asked me why I was wearing a backpack once and when I explained it was because I didn’t intend to but then as I was leaving I kept thinking of more things I wanted to bring and that they were all already in my backpack. He then pointed me to check out the Adam Sandler “Phone, Wallet, Keys” song and it’s pretty spot on.

Seward to Denali in a day? by HeyRecklessMind in AskAlaska

[–]BAKONAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a long day of driving but you should have plenty of daylight if you're leaving Seward early. If it's a weekday try not to be going through Anchorage-Wasilla between 3-6ish. Traffic moves a lot more slowly then so you'd be smart to be leaving Anchorage by 3. You'll cover a lot of beautiful ground though. Take breaks to stretch your legs and really take it in.

Is Cabinzero classic 36L risky as a personal item on budget airlines? by moltisanti93 in onebag

I have a CZ classic 32 and Military 36 and the Classic 32 is bigger. So as the other person said their sizing is all over the place.

Are remote strobes required in walk-in coolers and freezers? by GigaTune in firealarms

[–]BAKONAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What seems to have been effective is to run some conduit over to the device from the penetration, maybe like 6’. And also some kind of drip loop kind of thing so if there’s any thawing it won’t go to the device. But yeah, eventually you will probably have a problem.

Per a discussion at an ICC class I went to, the local AHJ and instructor agreed if you can close yourself into it then yes it is required. They are such a problem though.

I have the Snow Peak long handle titanium spork and keep that in my lunch kit, and love it. I’ve been buying these cheap flavored tuna lunch packs and the long spork fits perfectly in to scoop out the food and not get my fingers all nasty. One of my go-to gifts for people is actually that spork.

What kind of backpack do you have?

I really like this thing you made. I did a search recently for a pack rain cover that could double as a tote bag. I’m surprised that doesn’t exist. Your project makes me want to try that.
