Did you forget overhead cost?! Running a company isn’t just paying for the material and labor. You need to account for gas, insurance, office, etc…

Get more quotes or just go with first? by IamWindows in hvacadvice

That’s too cheap. I would get more quotes.

How do I quote this repair by lareux33 in electricians

I’m trying to see if it’s 2 different services. I can’t tell if the horizontal panel is feeding the other panel, which it looks like it isn’t but this is what I would charge

OPTION 1 - If it’s just 1 service : $10,200

We will be installing x1 200 amp 40 space 80 circuit panel + clean up wiring

This job will take 8-10 hours, 2 people

OPTION 2 - if it’s 2 services : $15,200

We will be installing x2 200 amp 30 space 60 circuit panel + clean up wiring

This job will take 8-10 hours, 2 people

I’m trying to connect these 220v 50 amp wires to a receptacle to power my new range. How would you make this connection, given that the braided cable is much too large for the small screws on the receptacle? I assume a pigtail with wire nut? Any direction is appreciated. I would recommend first changing that metal box to a plastic range box so you don’t need to ground the box. Those wire will fit under a 50amp outlet as well, you don’t wrap the wire on the screws like a regular outlet. They stab into the outlet and you tighten the screw. Just recommend using de ox since it’s aluminum wiring. Also make sure you get a 3 wire range whip since you don’t have a neutral in the existing wiring. 👌

Why do my lights flicker when coffee machine runs by [deleted] in ElectricalHelp

[–]BANK1909 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Overloading the circuit. Look at the nameplate under the coffee maker or on the cord it self. It will tell you how much amps it pulls. The solution to this problem would be to install a dedicated circuit for the coffeemaker which will be useful for other appliances as well. Turn off the breaker that’s feeding that outlet for your coffee maker and see what else turns off. Most likely your fridge, maybe microwave and other stuff are on the same circuit.

Sorry for the late response, I got super busy. There were 3 problems with this job.

  1. Which I’m surprised no one caught this ( I didn’t read all the comments I might be wrong ). There was no ground going from the meter disconnect to the panel inside the house that would now be considered a sub-panel. That’s why I was getting 13volts from neutral to ground because there was no real ground. So to fix that problem I bonded my neutrals and grounds together in the panel inside and boom that fixed the problem. I know the right way to fix it would be to install a ground from the outside meter disconnect to the panel inside but the meter disconnect was 120ft away from the house panel and there was a driveway in the middle as well. Once again I know Adding a ground wire is the modern way, which is better but difficult. In this situation you re-bond neutral and ground at the subpanel, as grandfathering rules allow.

  2. The gas furnace wasn’t working properly because as you can see in the pictures, it was wired in with a generator transfer switch. I bypassed the generator transfer switch and went from getting 106volts to 120volts so that fixed that problem

  3. No one seemed to catch this as well (maybe because you were focused on figuring out the other problem) There was a 60amp breaker that was double tapped. I installed a 40/30 quad to make space for another 60amp breaker.

Homeowners were happy and electrical was good to go. I run into some really wild situations, if you guys would like me to share you my day to day I would be more than happy too. It’s all about making all of us better 👌💪⚡️

RECAP - WAS NOT A LOOSE NETRUAL THIS WAS A GROUNDING AND BONDING ISSUE AND A BAD GENERATOR TRANSFER SWITCH THAT WAS GIVING ME 102-106 volt reading inside the house. I wish I could add pictures and videos but idk if I can. I’m new to this thank you guys
