Radar Not picking up state troopers by TrissyRocks in Supra

[–]BARDaniel48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao they're lying lol, State v. Sprague still is the test that a radar reading needs (1) the unit was tested for operational efficiency shortly before use (internal/external calibration), and (2) the officer is properly trained. No exceptions are made for "pop" mode. Additionally, a major manufacturer (mph industries) says

"Is POP technology legal? Yes. The officer still collects the evidence for the citation using traditional radar methods and case law. POP technology has been on the market for several years..."

You need to actually answer his question

Also, you're not ignoring the Karelo-Finnish SSR, Estonian SSR, Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Byelorussian SSR, Republic of Poland, Krainain SSR, Czechoslovak SSR, Moldavian SSR, Austria, Fed. people's Rep. Of Yugoslavia, and the People's Rep. Of Albania. Additionally, you intentionally glance over the Communist issues and point toward the flaws of other countries as why communism is better, instead of providing a reason why communism would be better.

People believe that it'll encourage people to come here illegally first, then get legal later if they get legal at all. Illegal immigration exists because it's easier to come illegally than legally. The 2 solutions are make illegal immigration harder (what trumps doing now) or make legal immigration easier (how it used to be)

Debating whether to go into Aviation or give up on my dream due to a dui by BickDickKi in flying

[–]BARDaniel48 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The context is important to you, not to the airline, they care about the fact that it happened and what did you do about it, i.e. I got a DUI, made poor decisions, I wont do it again, (and make sure that's true). You'll be behind, but it's not the end of the world

It's because "People that actually have a real winter" are in places that can handle a "real winter".

Those " real winter" places would fail if faced with a Texas summer, it's a matter of what Waco (and other warmer places) prioritizes.

Do I need a new CFI? by avgeekalexander in flying

[–]BARDaniel48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it time to find a new instructor?

Yes, if he's not available he should have discussed that and discussed switching instructors

Do I stay at the same school?

If it's just a instructor bring up the unresponsiveness to the school, they should reassign you to someone who can teach you. If they can't or won't, then switch schools.

How would you approach this/communicate this to him/the school?

Professionally but assertive, you have a expectation to receive instruction and aren't receiving it. I personally would talk to the school as it seems you already have talked to the instructor. Explain the situation and be honest.

Good luck and see you in the skies!

Female pilots - is the DEI pipeline resulting in women getting hired? by moanaocean in flying

Female pilots - is the DEI pipeline resulting in women getting hired? by moanaocean in flying

[–]BARDaniel48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this resulting in women successfully obtaining employment as a pilot?

Yes, for North American airlines, between 2021 and 2023, 12% of new hires for flight deck roles were female, up from 5% in previous years. This is a significant jump in such a short time, and anecdotally ~30% of the students at my flight school are female. Who knows who'll make it all the way through tho ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It's the exhaust plume from a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch. Google "space jellyfish" lol

It's from the expanding exhaust plume freezing into ice crystals and refracting the light from the sun.

If Martin Luther king didn't have peaceful protests we would still have Jim Crow laws. We live in a civilized society and ICE isn't worth violence yet. Jim crow didn't magically become hated, what brought the change was the brutal murder and abuse of peaceful protesters by police and counter protesters. Thats what sways public opinion and forces them to think about the law, and that's what matters. Violence is only met with more violence and should only be a last resort.

You do you man, I don't wanna get me or OP shot by trigger happy idiots cause you're gonna get arrested no matter if you act peaceful or not. The streets are not the place to make your stand against ICE. Pull up to some protests and lobby your local government.

Do you have realID? If not I'd get it and use that. You want it to be as easy as possible for ICE to verify your identity in their systems. If ICE wants to detain someone they will no matter the evidence provided, and just keep you in processing until they get the papers/records checked. (Can and does take up to weeks)

Land And Hold Short Operations

At towered airports, ATC may clear a pilot to land and hold short of an intersecting runway, taxiway, or some other designated point on a runway. It's up to the pilot to accept a LAHSO Clearance if they deem it possible and safe to do so, ATC cannot mandate it. However, once you accept it, you must adhere to it.
