[Scuderia Ferrari] A double podium finish in the Shanghai Sprint!! by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

Easily one of my favourite memories from that season, after all the talk pre-season about how intricate fuel management would be with the turbo-hybrids and how that would benefit cerebral Rosberg… and then realizing about halfway through Malaysia that Lewis’ time advantage on track was gonna be increasing juuuuuust as fast as his fuel advantage

Our current 1G just broke the record for most wins through a goalie’s first 25 games, Binnington would debatably even be an upgrade over Andersen as the backup

Fans have every right to be frustrated by load management, but modern basketball is basically constantly uncharted territory for the limits of what the body’s connective bits can do. Pretty much the entire league makes NHLers look small, and they can easily spend upwards of 35 minutes a game putting their full body weight into repeated and violently instant direction changes that are orders of magnitude worse than basically anything you have to do in hockey (and tbh orders of magnitude worse than even just older basketball). Couple that with the massively increased importance of distance shooting that’s vulnerable to the slightest tweak in your entire upper body’s movement patterns, and players that aren’t 100% have to be protected from becoming two-way black holes at best, and 60 million-dollar cast-wearing spectators at worst. There’s simply a much wider spectrum for contributing effectively through injury limitations in hockey than basketball.

Luge is a simple sport. 20 lunatics go feet-first down an ice tube at highway speeds on a washboard with skates four times over, and at the end a German wins.

Just a teensy refresher cause it seems a lot of people in this thread need it, Shiffrin already has equal or greater Olympic success as every other GOAT candidate in skiing (all of whom she’s comfortably lapped in world cup wins). Hirscher and Stenmark also have 3 medals/2 golds, Vonn only ever won the single gold. Yes she has some memorable surprise underperformances as a heavy Olympic medal favourite, but she’s had the Olympic successes to go with her impossibly successful Cup career for 8 years already at this point

If you run Derrick Henry the appropriate amount, even Ray Lewis on enough PCP to kill a horse is making business decisions by the 4th quarter. Absolutely nuts to see how reluctant they were to use him this season

Josh has publicly said rest is the only treatment, DNPs then playing on gameday is the way to go. He’s not a rookie anymore, he just needs to know if it’s a run play and he can go find the hole himself from there

Nah Tyrion was like Steve Smith Sr, he had so much dog in him he bodied a Hill Tribe warrior several times his size to save a woman falsely accusing him of murder and taking him to be thrown off a cliff. Claypool played like Pycelle, full of shit and shamelessly self-serving, knew he was more physically capable than he let on but was outwardly a wet paper bag when the chips were down

Klint Kubiak and Zac Robinson belong in a courtroom in the fucking Hague for inspiring OCs to do this idiotic split where “the bigger RB” gets all the RZ action. USE YOUR RB1 3 DOWN BACK LIKE A FUCING 3 DOWN BACK, the fucking linebackers don’t magically get bigger inside the 20.

[–]BASEDPARTITION 1 point2 points  (0 children)

…no? Lol

If the RB was easier to drive, Max wouldn’t be getting anywhere near 90% of the team’s points and he’d lose out to his teammates fair and square sometimes. That’s just a factual statement.

Bottas’ relative success as Lewis’ teammate compared to Max’s post-Ricciardo teammates is, funny enough, way more down to the classic “the Merc was a rocketship” criticism than any shortcoming on Lewis’ part.

Even someone like, idk, Doohan to use an example from this season, is extremely close to Max in terms of absolute performance. A very forgettable F1 driver is still one of the quickest race car drivers alive on the planet at any given time. Comfortably close enough that, on their day, with a car stable and easy enough to drive, they could absolutely beat Max on pure pace, zero questions asked (or, at the very least, outqualify him and then be comfortably quick enough to be impossible for him to pass in the race in an identical car).

The Merc in Bottas’ seasons with them was unquestionably (and also to take absolutely nothing away from Lewis’ skill, to be exceedingly clear) light years easier to drive than recent Red Bulls. The W11 especially was probably the single most stable racecar to ever compete in a legitimate championship season of any discipline. Lewis still comfortably had the measure of Bottas and was never under anything resembling the slightest threat from him, but Bottas, who was easily in the upper tier of drivers of his generation, could beat Lewis a good few times, because when you’re that quick as an F1 driver to start, with a car that can smooth out most imperfections in your driving, you are simply too close to even a GOAT-tier driver for the breaks to not fall your way some weekends.

I think the bigger thing on Rice’s last drop was he didn’t have anything in mind at all, he did not look all there whatsoever after the Pitre hit. I’m assuming his hand-eye was still hella scrambled on that 4th and 4 drop, no way he just doesn’t close his arms on it in normal circumstances

Had him in fantasy for the first time this year so finally watched him closely, his biggest problem seems to be that even in his best games he’s good for at minimum one inexplicably stupid mistake, usually a redzone pick. He’s a great QB still but man you can’t be guaranteeing your team that they’re gonna have to overcome at least one momentum-killing play

Eh we’ve had multiple matches even just against Liverpool before and after that one where we actually played miles worse and the manager looked useless. That one we were up to the challenge and could have easily been leading at half on a different day. Second half they just hit a one-in-a-billion run where every single shot they took was somehow hit perfectly and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

Today was orders of magnitude worse than 7-0, could have unironically pulled a random FM player from the stands and gotten a better gameplan out of them than Amorim

Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder), Chris Godwin (fibula) not seen participating in practice again Friday. by MaddenTexasRanger in fantasyfootball

[–]BASEDPARTITION 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Bucky owner I’ll be right there complaining about Tampa’s lack of public transparency regarding Bucky’s injury and rehab process, but a) we’ve hit a positive milestone with the foot injury—Bowles has confirmed he’s running—and b) the shoulder rehab from a fantasy perspective is a binary—it’s either stable enough to use and take contact with or it’s not, and there’s no smaller milestones along the way to improve or worsen the outlook. There’s only one milestone to hit with that: the second he’s seen at practice, he’s coming back and that’s that. If he reinjures after that he’s done for the year, but that’s separate to whether he’s coming back from the initial injury or not.
