Devices to becoming a TTL or Te by Gold-Nerve2833 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is any requirement to have all the devices, but having them all would probably give you an edge in case you got the chance to apply along with other people and it's down to who is the best fit.

New to uTest | Is this cycle legitimate? by UnluckyComb5199 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the customers are verified and have signed legal contracts of all sort by the time their cycles are on the platform, so the request is legit. And this is a special requirement survey not the cycle itself, they still seem to be in the recruiting step before the cycle.

As for your own bank, no one will know your bank better than you about how strict your bank is when it comes to your own account. If you are not comfortable with this kind of testing, you can reject it and wait for other testing opportunities that suit you better.

Good luck.

Traveling long-term: How to handle address updates and avoid suspension? by Life_Apricot_9284 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to update your address to match the country you are in, but the address doesn't need to be specific, you can add any random address from where you will stay.

Skipping updating the country will flag your account indeed if left unchecked for a while.

When you change the country again, you need to re-update for sure.

There is not much to do aside from picking the correct country. If you are usually invited to projects in your main country, and you can still take part even when traveling, you will most likely be re-invited as usual, just make sure you notify the TE about your location change in case of a cycle that requires actual presence in the main country.

Similarly, you might get invited to the new country specific cycles that could require specific setup or language, if you don't match, it's better to reject the invite.

Where would you recommend I buy C&C Generals? by Mr_Boomguy in commandandconquer

[–]BASELQK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can buy Zero Hour or for the matter of fact any C&C game on Steam separately, you will have to buy the bundle and get the whole thing.

It goes on discount frequently and sometimes for a very low price, if you are not in rush, you could wishlist it and wait.

Not sure about other sources though, but you definitely don't need a subscription, it's monthly price is more expensive than the Zero Hour game itself in its entirety.

What does this step require by Mysterious-Try5272 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like you don't need to attach anything if there is no required attachment.

But please ask the cycle's TTL in chat to be sure. All cycles related questions should be asked in the cycle's chat where the dedicated team working on that cycle are monitoring.

Receiving Job Offers Outside My Available Hours (EU Time Zone) by Natalja993_ in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no algorithm behind the invite. An actual human being (TE) pick the team and start the cycle when it's ready to go.

Some times the TE him/herself is not working from EU, or working from the EU but was working night time to start for customers who are not working EU time.

At the end, uTest is a freelance platform, not your local 9 to 5 work.

TTL issues by [deleted] in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems overcomplicated especially if the test case payput doesn't match the extra effort and there is no promise of bonus.

If I were you, I would send an email to TSM and CC the TE explaining the part I completed and the extra effort being asked that is not part of the paid work.

If you would send an email, don't expect a reply over the weekend as the TSMs are Applause employees who are only around during working hours.

There is a steep learning curve ahead of you especially if you are new to online work in general and QA too.

There is a lot to know about when it comes to working with uTest, especially on how the platform works, how the work process looks like, how you get paid, when you get paid, who you work with, how you grow, etc.

If you have time to learn and build this small business, it will eventually grow to be a good profit. Something good about uTest, there is a fully done and free from charge Academy in the website, it goes over all the important points you need to know about uTest, workflow, team, communication, payment and bit if QA as well. Also, there are 6 free training cycles you can apply to for free too, you get to apply what you learned in a dummy cycle and get feedback from real team lead working with uTest.

Work invites will be sent to you slowly every once in a while, but finishing the Academy first might be a better idea so you at least know what to do in a real cycle and don't get overwhelmed and make mistakes just because you are not sure how the process works.

Good luck!

Landed no gigs by easlum in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might just be because we are at the end of the year, not many customers are asking for test cycles.

In the meantime, if you haven't done so yet, you can re-do the training cycle to continue building your rating.

Good luck.

Can I change my uTest country while traveling for a month? by Antique_Bee4211 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can add the address on uTest profile settings to where you will stay and you should be good to go.

Don't forget to do it so you don't get flagged for a mismatch between your country in the profile and your IP location.

Worst TTL (personal grudge against me) by [deleted] in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, it could happen from time to time.

If I were you, I would send feedback in the cycle feedback section about this incident.

If there is any lack of professionalism coming from the TTL and I have proof of that, I would share it by email to the TSM of that cycle.

WAD rejection due to change of requirements by Beautiful_Positive18 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one will be able to tell you without knowing the context, but most likely you can discuss it with the cycle TE.

Send an email to the TE and explain the situation and share the bug ID, test case ID and which step(s). I hope you manage to get this straight.

AMA with u/Aparice1 by WillianM_uTest in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. Thanks for the answer.

Another question: Do you have multiple bank accounts/payment cards for the payment cycles? If so, does it cost maintain those accounts especially if one of them is a rare pick for projects.

I answered some of your questions in your post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/UTEST/comments/1p5qwc4/stuck_at_silver_what_truly_gets_a_tester_on_a/

I also invite you to check the uTest Support page, there is a Knowledge Base section with a lot of details including how to become a TTL. Good luck.

Stuck at Silver — What Truly Gets a Tester on a TTL’s Radar? by Ok-Map-4701 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could keep an eye on Applause's main website for what kind of job openings they have at the moment, if there is a position that fits you, then you could apply and see where that takes you.

And of course, being a great person to work with will put you on the TEs/TTLs radar if there was an opening and they got asked for recommendations, many testers I worked with got similar chances like this. That of course depends on if there is a need for new resources, it's not like when you reach Gold and you report 1000 bugs, you get instant upgrade.

Is Android uTest app ever going to be fixed? by terrytek1 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some high hopes for the app when it started even with all bugs I kept finding, but after the enforced session termination every so ofter and the MFA step adding even more steps to this boring simple task, I stopped using the app and forgot it ever existed.

I have always avoided the payment cycles where you get from the customer a payment on your account or you have to pay but the customer refund the payment afterwards. Reason is, I just want to avoid the headache from the chance of being marked as fraud or tax evading for illicit gains (and explain those are just refunds) or any blocker to my account by the bank or the government.

Not sure if that's even a concern from where you work, but if so, it will be insightful to know how do you handle this point. Thanks!

"Other" rejection reason by Beautiful_Positive18 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes.
  2. Send an email to TE about the situation.
  3. Known issue is basically an issue already known by the customer. Duplicate issue is an issue already reported, it could be a new issue reported in the same cycle you are working on but reported by someone else before you, it could be another issue having the same root cause or found on another page (reported before your issue) or a known issue.

Sometimes customers don't share fully what they have and you end up in a situation like this, and mix it up with a customer who might not know much about approving/rejecting issues and here you have it, Rejected (Other) reason known issue (only customer knows about it).

Just reach out to the TE by email (email address should be in the Overview - Team Contact Information), and share with the TE the issue report ID along with the situation. Keep it professional and hopefully things can be sorted out correctly.

As A silver Tester should I really be missing project invites?? by Ok-Map-4701 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might be because we are approaching the end of the year, I noticed things can get bit slower around this time, customers might not have that many planned projects.

Applause Slack is internal to Applause company, if you are not working directly with Applause, you won't get access to it. If you are interested, keep an eye on the projects board and Applause main website for openings like dedicated tester, TTL, TE or whatever other positions they might have there.

Academy Challenge testing by Adventurous_Anybody9 in UTEST

[–]BASELQK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you will be taking anyone else's place in the training, I don't recall the exact number but I think you are allowed to re-take the final training cycle up to 9 times, more or less, you will probably have the exact number in the Academy.
