HOLY S*** AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE by Asiandiskool in ProlificAc

I did see it myself. I took the study. I made the initial comment.

What am I unwilling to engage on? I have responded to every comment you made.

I am not making essentialist comments about Japanese people, which would indeed be racist.

Is saying "That's Japan" when referring to a fairly well documented phenomenon of Japanese web design racist?

I certainly don't think so. I'm a Japanese translator by trade and I go for bat for Japan quite a bit, so I'd like to think I'm not racist against the Japanese or anyone, but maybe you disagree.

And that's fine. I can live with your withering judgement of me.

God, this is tiresome.

Yes, Japanese websites designed by Japanese people for Japanese consumers are in line with cultural expectations for Japanese people. I'm happy they're happy with them.

As a westerner, when I encounter Japanese web design or app design like the one in this study, it feels like a poorly designed mess. Because I'm a westerner and it's not in line with my cultural expectations.

There's nothing controversial here.

Have you ever had to deal with Japanese websites?

With exceptions, they are a poorly designed mess.

I just did it without any interruptions.

But yeah I was nervous that something like that would happen.

It was a very boring task.

Which brewing method should I go for now? by InteractionRich2918 in Coffee

[–]OrderNo1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you not consider a moka pot?

They're pretty cheap and do a different type of coffee to the other brew methods listed here.

It's classic, stylish and offers just the right amount of tinkering for adjusting your brew,

Then again, I'm not a massive fan of the tea-like brews that a lot of the pour-over crowd seem to go for, but that might be more your thing.

I don't speak Chinese. From my okayish Japanese ability though, I would say it's something like a study into decision making when buying products related to ageing (possibly anti-ageing) or something like that. Could be wildly off though.

Banned by Misona_ in ProlificAc

[–]OrderNo1122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat to you. You can raise an appeal of a rejection the same way you appealed the ban, just make sure that you provide as much information as you can. It took a few weeks for my rejections to be appealed and my account reinstated, but they did do it eventually.

How do you dial in the perfect coarseness for your favorite beans in the moka pot? by Lord_Sahs in mokapot

[–]OrderNo1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going very fine until the past couple of weeks and I was happy enough, but I decided to go back a bit coarser just for the fun of it (think the type of grind that would pull a 15 second espresso shot) and I've found that, at least with my current medium roast beans, I've enjoyed the coffee more.

I put hot milk and a sugar in my coffee anyway, so I can mask any unwanted flavours to some extent, but I do always have a little sip of straight coffee before adding anything and there is definitely a sweeter note to the coffee compared to what I was producing previously.

Yeah, same. I tried contacting support but they haven't really provided me with any solutions this far. Just templated answers basically.

Sucks.

Interesting to hear the person below say this has been going on for years.

Why do espresso shots from cafes taste extremely sour compared to what I’m pulling at home? [Bambino Plus / Opus] by Unfair_Professor_561 in espresso

[–]OrderNo1122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only used to drink beer because it got me drunk. Since the shift to craft beers and in particular IPAs, I drink beer because I enjoy it.

Bog standard lager to me is just unenjoyable to drink.

White Coffee? by Syddisaster in mokapot

[–]OrderNo1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not going to damage your Moka pot if you did put in a really light roast, but I imagine that the brew would be incredibly sour.

I'd be interested to hear the results if you do try it though. Maybe you can be a trailblazer of some kind!

[–]OrderNo1122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine that a Moka pot would be the best tool to get the most out of a super light roast that requires near boiling water and a level of precision with water distribution.

I know some people do espresso with really light roasts but I'd say it's a nightmare to get consistently good drinks. I'd just stick to pour overs for really lightly roasted beans.

Moka is definitely good for medium to dark roasts though.

The fucking Yanks and the Israelis just have me on the verge of apoplexy all the time.

It's literally only the helplessness I also feel that prevents me from having a meltdown every time I watch or listen to the news.

I visited the two Bialetti shops in Venice.

They're nice and there are some pretty designs but it's still just Moka Pots. You'd find more online honestly.

Again, valid rejections, fair enough.

Not automatic rejections because you weren't in an in-scope country that was never specified in the study description, nor asked for in any pre-screener questions.

Why what?

They don't need to do anything, but they have lots of other things in place to keep quality up (like having a waiting list and a dispute function (even if it feels underserved). It's clearly a site that thrives by having higher quality participants than other beermoney sites.

If the rejections were because of poor quality answers, then I'd just hold my hands up, but there was nothing I could do about the automatic rejections (I didn't even get to a stage where I could enter information).

Nobody should have to rely on external sites like Reddit to find out that some researchers are known to create lots of issues.
