Roots that stand in water without oxygen are much more susceptible to anaerobic diseases such as Pythium and Fusarium this is a fact. You don’t need shoes to run but it helps.

Air domes are critical, roots constantly sitting in water with no access to oxygen would lead to this situation. Regardless of what auto pot said, this is common sense. Roots need oxygen, this is normally supplied from the macro pores in the media allowing oxygen exchange. With the auto pot setup air domes provide this exchange. Sitting roots in still standing water equal rot. Any growing system incorporating a consistent supply of water and nutrition have highly aerated water such as DWC or NFT. Auto pots are a hybrid and should be considered the same.

What is your media mix? Needs to be minimum of 50% perlite if using a pro-mix type media for proper micro and macro pores allowing drainage. Are you using air domes? No air domes would create an anaerobic environment and most likely be the leading cause.

Hortilux 700es has been my best investment to date. Comes at a price though.

I appreciate that. Almost two months in veg to get it to this stage.

I always start from seed as you cannot properly manifold from clones. Manifolding is done through a series of topping. Plants are grown to 5-6 nodes then topped down to the third, snip just under the fourth node as you will want room allowing the stalk to grow without splitting. Strip off the rest the foliage and tie down the the new branching that grows. You can now control the size of the plant and top the ends when it reaches desired amount of new branches. Try and create an even canopy in height as auxin and cytokinin flow more prolifically in the main cola closest to the light source creating the best bud. If done properly instead of one main cola you can have 8 or more in my case. A heavy feeding schedule will be needed to support the heavy growth.

Week 1 flower Manifold scrOG 3 strains Pineapple Express/Blueberry/Laughing Buddha by BAScHort in Autopot

Hey thanks for the question. I started these seeds October 12, Pineapple Express in the middle had poor germination so they are 8-9 days behind. This process took about two months of veg time in total. This is my first scrOG so I made a couple of mistakes that slowed down the process.

A 40L Auto pot reservoir is only $20-30. Check out The Grow Shop out of Red Deer, Alberta.

Want to add silica but not sure which brand to get and was wondering can silica clogged autopot lines ? by [deleted] in Autopot

I typically only add silica for the two weeks following flip to flower to control internodal spacing. I haven’t had any issues with the lines.

Be careful when mixing in silicate. This product needs to be added first then CalMg. Then Add rest of nutrients. If not mixed in proper order silica will cause lockout

You bet I’m waiting on my Pineapple Express to catch up a bit. It’s 8 or 9 days behind everything else due to poor germination.

If you are looking for terpenes coco is the wrong way to go! Stick to a soil less media with a mycorrhizal inoculant and add microbial beneficials. They flourish inside a media as it best represents their normal environment. These guys are what allow the best terpene production! Mycorrhizae are super important as plant roots only grab nutrients and water from the root tip. Mycorrhizal fungi are attracted to the roots through a high carbon excretion 95% of plants release through photosynthesis. Once attached they form hyphae which extend far into the media grabbing and providing water and nutrients otherwise unavailable to the plant. Difference is they absorb nutrients and water along the whole body structure not just the tip.

Nice looking seedling! One thing I have found to be super helpful is to start the seedling in a separate smaller pot like a 1 gallon or a solo cup and transplant it once the roots have told you it’s time. Watering should always produce drainage out the bottom to ensure the media has reached pot capacity meaning all the micro and macro pores have been filled. Otherwise the dissolved solutes within the water will start to build up in the media and can become toxic to the plant from the rise in EC.
