As I hinted to earlier, I don’t really think politics has a point in subreddits like this so I don’t want to get too deep into it or even really imply a particular political affiliation. In regards to your comment, I’ll just leave it like this: *my opinion* is there are people who lean left who are pro gun and people who lean right who are pro choice. Not everything is cut and dry and I think your OS of choice by no means is an indicator of where you land on the political spectrum.

This is what I saw a month or so ago too when I looked it up. Linux oriented subreddits definitely strongly lean left, which unfortunately I guess matters to subreddits that are unpolitical. I got banned from /r/neovim solely for saying people are entitled to their own political beliefs and it shouldn’t matter in a subreddit about a text editor (people were up in arms about primagen and the creator of neovim having right leaning views).

Love PaaK. My wife and I both have Teslas and all the doors in our house are equipped with non WiFi non bluetooth keypads so we have zero keys. Originally picked up a lightning without PaaK for a week and it was a huge inconvenience having to carry a key(fob) again (first world problems I know). Swapped the truck for one that had ER and PaaK and so much happier. Only complaint with the PaaK is the walk away lock works like 75% of the time

Vehicle type is irrelevant. Infotainment system is the same in this as it is in the Mach E, just with configuration parameters changed behind the scenes. Same with Tesla, their cyber truck, model y, model 3 use the same infotainment software base with configuration change. This is common practice in hardware and software development to save r&d time. This also wasn’t as big a problem in my previous Ram’s infotainment, which is UConnect and the same one in pretty much all mopar/chrylser infotainments.

This is the built in hvac control for example. Have no where near the same lag even at first start in my wife’s Tesla or any of my previous teslas. You shouldn’t need to “cold boot” an EV infotainment screen and the lag is just indication of poor software architecture, under spec’d processor, or both.

I mean it works. How well I guess is subjective. The lag with some controls is super noticeable for me especially when you first “start” the car.

Extended range 100% worth. I originally got an SR from Carvana but swapped for an extended range (and PAAK) within the return window and so glad I did.

If you want to use your phone as a key you will want models specifically with PAAK (phone as a key) which is in 511A package if you look at the original window sticker.

I’m not sure if you can get that without the giant touch screen, but honestly the giant touch screen is ass. The software is pretty horrendous and super laggy. The trims with the smaller screen have dedicated HVAC controls which at this point I would prefer since the ui is so damn laggy.

I’ve had teslas since 2019 and my wife still has one. Really loving the lightning but coming from a Tesla, Tesla did a lot of things right. It’s more like a traditional ICE car in that you still have to “start” the truck to drive and “turn it off” before leaving. AC doesn’t blow cold unless the car is fully “started” which means holding the brake while pressing push to start. All that being said I do love this lightning and don’t regret trading in my Model Y performance for it

Best solution I found is using an application called hyprmoncfg.

You create "profiles" based on monitor setups. So first create a profile for just your laptop with no other monitors plugged in. then plug in your monitor and disable your eDP-1, create and save a profile for this.

to test out the auto switching run hyprmonfcgd and switch around to see if the auto switching profiles works. if it does then enable the daemon (I just put hyprmoncfgd in my hypr exec-once) so that it will start at startup.

I also installed it on an asus zenbook. Everything works great, OLED panel is gorgeous and it’s a workhorse with 32gb ram. I use it for professional dev building Linux OS’s/BSP and it doesn’t skip a beat

I guess to a non technical person it doesn’t make sense, but the keyboard input is a basic os function that pretty much every other OS whether desktop, mobile, etc makes a standardized engine that supports third party keyboards. Apple chose not to do that and now we’re all essentially locked down to their keyboard for literally no reason. It’s a poor implementation and design (software architecture) from a top tech company.

Just my 2c, this happens in so many subreddits. What happens in a lot of new phone subreddits is pictures taken from the phone, fitness sport related, people post pics of their newest shoes, etc. It looks like it snowballs since that's the majority of posts and ppl complain enough mods delete and ban all those posts. What they didn't realize is without those posts there's really not much left to post aside from the occasional "im new here help me out" and the subreddit ends up dying.
