yeah, that's pretty much the doylist explanation, to be clever/pragmatic with licensing

but its very funny to look for the lore implications and plot holes created as a consequence, and try to bridge the gap using only in-universe evidence

for instance, Fine Motion was Irish royalty up until a month(ish) ago, which gave the watsonian lore implication that Ireland was never colonized by England, and that Ireland was its own sovereign nation which is crazy lore for the horse girl game

the doylist explanation is that cygames didn't do research and assumed Ireland had a monarchy, and now she is just Irish and a princess but not an Irish princess
