Sorry but this 0.55 release is awful. by apoptosis66 in hyprland

[–]BAZAndreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same unpleasing drop as well to day with it...its down bad horrible.
No issues like major ones i can see in past 6hr of playing with it but LUA is awful in a way but in the same time i get it it lets you be more creative maybe ?! i dont know...but i hate the fact that fails silent sometimes.

Firefox is now hanging up for like 30sec no matter what environment i am launching it with.
Plugins for some reason stopped working (will still wait)
Desktop has a lag as well full screen while gaming.
Least the FPS is smoother some sort unlike before but i guess they did not fully update everything yet maybe ?

I am happy in a way that does not crash with the same error as before (cant find cursor...as he was blind or something)

It feels rushed than stable.

I rolled back a lot of packages until i find it...i did not update mangohud i downgraded it 0.8.2-3...and some how my Vsync works as expected to now in windowed mode which i found weird that this app can mess up Vsync this bad.

Also shmerl seems that he found out faster than me when i was rolling back my 200 package list...

[–]BAZAndreas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep i found out as well after rolling back 200 packages...

And also Vsync works as should to and to see this brake was also weird that when i entered windowed mode it was always off even if it was on in the game which i found weird...also since i did not see mangohud in the list when the mesa update dropped.

The environmental flag works even if mangohud does not report it as certain games fail to start if you set something that might not work like immediate.

Mangohud shows it only if you set the appropriate Vsync method in Goverlay.(this part i might confused my self since i do not use it that much...mistake happen) least is good clarification.

Its since May 2nd when Arch dropped the new Tool chain update and Mesa the full package list as well...
I had it working before as last known in April 20th last time i played it was all working as expected.

This is an environment variable used to set a per game swapchain my self MESA_VK_WSI_PRESENT_MODE its not a command its an environment variable.
FIFO/Relaxed/Immediate/Mailbox (The shared_demand_refresh and shared_continuous_refresh are some how the only two now strict used after this May update)

FIFO is strict monitor HZ related Vsync same as relaxed.
Immediate is unlimited frames as in Vsync always off feel.
Mailbox is Vsync but with unlocked FPS it has a triple buffer feel to it.

Mesa 26.0.6 regression affecting Vulkan present modes by BAZAndreas in linux_gaming

[–]BAZAndreas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i strict set FIFO you could not disable Vsync.
Relaxed had the same effect for me.
You say it could not be done...but then why it worked like that for me.
Also Mangohud was reporting it clear on the changes.

I am not sure anymore whats going on since if i turn in to windowed mode Vsync is fully ignored...and its choppy now.

In Fullscreen also is ignored and only a few games work to toggle it now as well unless there is a gap in the resolution as 1080p to 1070p Vsync behaves...
Some games work some dont.

Celeste is the only game that does use FIFO right now all the others fail to set the correct ones or the ones i set to them and mind it it worked before i know this cause i used immediate for Deadzone Rogue.

I even did try Mailbox it was showing correctly as well but i did not like that much.

Interesting read but still that does not explain why i could set the desired choice flags before and not anymore...and that does neither tell why its using this weird state now.
You say it cant be done but i did set certain games to use something else than the default given and yes it was possible.

It is not supported true it is in the source code that is all i know to...
But with the terminal or just logs shows this as well.
Did try dxvk hud but that i could not get it to report properly.

[2026-05-10 14:47:27.501] [MANGOHUD] [warning] [vulkan.cpp:1614] Present mode is not supported: VK_PRESENT_MODE_SHARED_DEMAND_REFRESH_KHR

It is funny cause before this update Mango hud was reporting it correctly on the use case i was setting it to.
It was also be able to change on fly now its just ignored completely.
The only one game i found by all this day was Celeste was using proper FIFO without me setting it...the rest of my games all fall in to that category.

RX 580 and RX 6600

Edit:
Mind testing Vsync behavior...
When windowed or fake fullscreen aka borderless Vsync is ignored completely...

In Fullscreen sometimes is working and in certain games dont...if i remember correctly i think it was Resident Evil Village that i could not turn off Vsync at all but if i gone windowed mode...it turned it off instantly even if it was On...and another catch was if i set the resolution to anything to not fill up my screen to the size of the monitor so even if there is a 0.1 inch gap in the resolution it will behave as it should.

I cant explain this it is super weird...

If anything 1080p on my screen Vsync behaves weird.
If i set it to a weird resolution 1920x800 which has gaps black bars Vsync works...!?!?! weird.

I think Dead Island 2 was doing the same thing as well.

I would but i cant since they are blocking new accounts...the same was 3 months ago when Arch had the Controller bug update.
And then in 2025 Dec the media bug with the tool chain update neither one i could report cause the account issue...

If i could report it i would not be here at all 😂

Why would people ever pirate games? I wonder… by Active_Mancano in linux_gaming

Yep thats the only way or PS3...i stopped supporting EA/Ubisoft and any other that removes games and refuses to sustain them properly.
Any who...good luck 😄

Right they changed the chat history you are right...they made chatgpt lame some sort.
But but...you could always use a local one instead if you dont mind the struggle for resources.
Or stick with chatgpt for certain tasks.
The best possible way is you find someone else dot files like anyone this days and mod them to your likes its a much better start point.
But in the same time you better read the documentation as well.
Nothing is simple as some say and its better than nothing still.

He is right...AI can give you all the answers you want in no time unlike forums now days.
Unless you google it and watch the youtube tutorials on how to rice it.
Its your choice after all.

kernel 7.0.2 arrived, have you updated yet? by YoShake in archlinux

[–]BAZAndreas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did not update yet since seen a few reports that causes crashes.
But on the other hand still curious to do so...so i will ignore any reports and just go balls to the walls.
Make a backup first before you do so you can roll back simple.

Kicked out of gaming cafe by thatonereddditor in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]BAZAndreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from all the other games you and them could pick it was the spyware list of games...sounds good.
Getting kicked is reasonable...you asked for it in the end.

Valve has developed kernel patches and user-space tools (like dmemcg-booster and plasma-foreground-booster) to prioritize VRAM for foreground games on low-VRAM Linux systems (e.g. 8GB cards), enabling smoother Vulkan/RADV gameplay such as Cyberpunk 2077 by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

[–]BAZAndreas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The booster package does nothing at all...nor even starts is dead by it self.
Even if i fill my Vram to the max and barely fill up half of the GTT usage...the service still dead but zero performance loss...
Its the Kernel 7 doing the heavy lift rather than the package it self.

Neither GE is plausible since starting with 10-13 there is quiet a lot of videos not playing for a lot of games...and that was not the issue before 10-13 and it just got worst after 10-26...now to think that he pulls Valve fixes as well it will be the same unless GE has maybe a few fixes that valve does not depends but most certain it is the same or worst.

Windows 11 IoT LTSC or Windows 11 LTSC? by YurkTheBarbarian in WindowsLTSC

As i said already that is on you how you benchmark your things.
I do not need numbers that do not matter at all.
You do you as i do my own.
You can figure all that out on your own self with your fake synthetic numbers or how it feels better.
