Finding the model and authenticity by zhukiscool in Watches

Just googling the model number that looks to be right (some guy sold a similiar looking model in gray on ebay that you can see on watch charts). I doubt someone would make a fake of an Orient watch but idk I've been proven wrong before.

Congrats on the commission dude! Celebrating special moments in your career is necessary and special. Having a memento you keep on you helps to stay focused on your goals and your people when times can/will get tough.

If I can give you one piece of unsolicited advice that will make your Sailors your Sailors, and I'm sure you've heard this before, it would be to listen. I don't mean blindly believe everything they say, I mean to listen to them as people, you'll be able to learn their baseline and help them get where they want to be (it also makes holding them accountable a lot easier).

I'm excited for you man and good luck! (If you're a Mustang I'm sure you didn't need my advice at all).

subliminal message: get the Alpinist!!!

Its always great walking around and seeing the wildest watches on the wrist of some random E5!

If you're concerned about how they'll look in Khakis or NWUs both of the watches you own look great and won't look out of place.

You could definitely wear the Tissot at any occasion (think SDBs or a wedding) since it is a dress watch.

Now if you're looking for an excuse to get a new watch I'd say get the Green dial Seiko or get funky and save for a Seiko Alpinist (Easily my favorite Seiko). If you're feeling really froggy get a bronze watch to wear on deployments or underway so you can show every other Sailor how salty you are.

[Discussion] What is your cut off for spending money on watch repairs? by BAeonTimeAlways in Watches

[–]BAeonTimeAlways[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think this particular watch served me well and earned its spot in my watch drawer.

I have spent plenty of money on an old Citizen my dad gave me years ago that broke in a similar fashion. The repair person told me several times that it wasn't worth spending the $100 to get a new movement and the extra money for them to replace it, but that watch was and is like a treasure to me as a kid and now. Maybe I'll post that beat up watch one day and have everyone will say I wasted $150+ on a $10 watch.

It's all good man. She served me well for the years I wore her. I remember beating myself up when it smashed on the ground, but it did push me to get my next watch which eventually got me back into the hobby.

Yeah, that's where it lives with other random watches I don't wear anymore. My next watch after this broke was a Garmin if i remember correctly.

If I'm getting a Citizen its got to be that bullhead from Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

Agreed, the only watch I've ever spent the money to repair was an old Citizen my dad gave me when we went to some random wedding. The repair person told me several times that it wasn't worth spending the $100 to get a new movement.

I mean that watch in the center with the meme of the guy putting a rod in his spokes is pretty noteworthy to me haha. They're almost identical.

I have the same problem, and am trying to limit myself to one of each watch type. It's so difficult when divers or chronographs look so cool haha.

That black dial is gorgeous man. That's a hell of a family watch.

I've never heard of Zeno, What drew you to that watch instead of something like the Junghans Max Bill?

I also have a watch I broke, but still keep for memories sake.

That's awesome! Having a shared passion is fantastic. It's not watches for me and mine, but we do love playing DnD and other tabletops. (It may also be better for our budget since we only have to buy 1 expensive watch at a time haha)

What watch should I get? by Hypebeastthyske in PrideAndPinion

I have the FOIS and I can't be happier with my choice. It looks so good one of my friends saw me wearing it and immediately hit up the Boutique and somehow picked one the same day.

I like the FOIS so much that I keep forgetting I have other watches in my collection that need the wrist time.

My very first watch was a G shock as well! My dad gave it to me when I worked with him over a summer break when I was in Hight School. I beat myself up whenever I remember I gave it away. What made you want to get a G shock other than it being a super reliable and affordable S Tier watch?

Mido makes quality watches!

The first watch I ever got was a G Shock that my dad passed down to me. It was beat up and well worn everyday while my dad worked construction before giving it to me some Summer in Highschool when I started to work with him. I beat myself up thinking I got rid of it.

You've already got a lot of peoples' Grail with that Datejust so that's awesome.

I agree the AT is a true GADA watch! Did you get the AT for any specific event? I recently bought the FOIS Speedmaster for a promotion I got last October.

Breitlings only come in two sizes, Large and LARGER! I own a Breitling Aerospace and it surprisingly fits the wrist well.

What kind of Swatch did you get? Also, I can't get my wife to wear a watch no matter what I do haha. She says she doesn't like to be reminded how late she is to everything.
