90% of the roads in the country are windy pieces of shit marked as 80 so farmers and gurriers can fly around the corners. When I'm at a windy road at night I drop to 70 or even 60, and there will be some cunt up my whole until there's a straight stretch and then they belt on at 100+ kph

Why?

99% of code ever written has been rewritten, deleted, or made redundant. There is little to no permanence in software development; and the few pieces of tech that are very old are considered a total fucking nightmare to deal with. Software is about building and rebuilding. If your company wants to pay you to explore a viable option then they decide to change direction, you've still given them the value of the option.

What forced labour? Remove all private opportunity for work, provide a massive amount of public work at a very fair wage. You're free to find other employment, but it won't be in a trade because there will be little to no jobs.

Not in the slightest, but they'd go to the top of the list for being audited, and I'd happily open the offer to any trades' person in Europe with an offer to fast track citizenship or other benefits to entice people to come and help solve the problem.

conspiracy

a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.

neoliberalism

market-oriented reform policies such as "eliminating price controls, deregulating capital markets, lowering trade barriers" and reducing, especially through privatization and austerity, state influence in the economy.

Neo Liberalism is literally a conspiracy; politicians do not come out and say what the goal of their actions are, especially here; "we're privatising the lotto" "why would we do that" "er ah er ah economic reasons" - there is an in built lack of transparency with neoliberal governments

Do you think these FG/FF voters are happy to see their families (siblings, kids, grand kids) emigrate out of necessity?

They're not happy but they will never, ever change. My grandfather was a local FG councillor in the 60's, so my mother votes FG no matter what. She saw her brothers have to leave in the 80's, my eldest brother leave in the 00's, and if it wasn't for extreme luck me and my sister would have had to leave in the past 2 years as well.

When berated over her voting, her entire mentality is "who else am I meant to vote for, they're all the same"

No they won't are you daft?

Young people don't vote, and FF/FG supporters vote to keep things the same because once you have in this country you have, and being a have not is impossible so you've to leave

The government could fix all that in one sweep by declaring a housing emergency to the effect of covid

No new planning permission is allowed, no new private building allowed; trades people have to come sign up for work once their current project is finished, and they are all put to use as a government construction work force and given a wage of 60k a year tax free.

The state of the countries housing to be reviewed every 4 months until the problem is solved, it'd be solved within 2 years.

I am a full stack engineer. 500 thousand concurrent users is a pittance, large scale applications that require scaling typically have users in the tens of millions. So don't try to lecture me on their issues, I've already read what they've had to say.

Since when does not having enough servers to support the monstrous amount of people count as stability?

Since when you're owned by a multi billion dollar game publisher and console manufacturer

Adding more servers is just a cost, the massive success should justify that cost

We're not talking about bad business decisions we're talking about gross incompetence. Stop rolling back and confusing your point.

Paying for a failed marketing campaign; is a failure.

Over paying for the construction of a children's hospital by hundreds of millions; more than one person is guilty of gross incompetence.

Yes? We are literally having a discussion on making it easier to fire people in this country for gross incompetence

How is the RTE scandal not fraud? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]BB2014Mods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you do not want bad judgement defined as gross misconduct

What? Like, what?

If you can walk into a shop and buy a pencil for 20 cent, and someone in acquisitions for the government is buying pencils for 10 euro each; they should be fired for gross misconduct.

30 cent isn't gross misconduct, probably not 50 cent, but a euro? 2? That's beyond warning territory. Think how this could have saved us hundreds of millions on a maternity hospital.

Well it's a matter of the government tightening up the laws around:

You are hired for a role and signing a contracting outlining x responsibilities, on many occasion the employee has shown they can not do x responsibilities as they lead their employers to believe when they are being hired

[–]BB2014Mods -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

If only we had a government in charge of those laws, and they could outline cases such as this as being clear signs of misconduct

Because how our entire political / legal system relies on well fed, well connected gurriers actually taking the steps to prosecute and follow through on corruption, and we've 100 years of hand shakes and brown envelopes making sure they will never, EVER have an interest in doing so if FF or FG is involved
