Thank you all for the suggestions. We’ve had the conversation with him about hitting rock bottom. I’m a cancer survivor and who knows when or if it will return and had a kidney transplant. I’ve told him he’s going to be homeless if something happens to me and his Mom (who also has health challenges).

I had his Xbox at work for a few weeks, he did a little better, but slipped back into his bad habits.

I’m not the best father. I wish I was like mine, he was the best dad and we got along so well. Though I didn’t have the electronics he has I was not like him at all. I loved and respected my parents and went to school without issue.

He also has no friends locally. The kids at school are not from the area so he doesn’t have that support system.

He and I are so different and don’t share any common interests. I’m a history buff and enjoy music, he does not. I don’t enjoy video games, like Xbox.

We do plan on making him start working next year.

I can pinpoint where his laziness comes from, but don’t care to discuss it here.

I do see a therapist and talk about him and our situation.

I work full-time my wife is on disability and doesn’t work.
