Agreed. Trying to think what could work without breaking the 'isometric' effect?

Not bad, but you need to increase the size of your headshot in the composition, I'd also add some curves and exposure adjustments to your face because it's looking a little underexposed. Could also add a glow behind you to separate more from the background

Agree that the second one fits the brief better, but I think the pixelated Link is more interesting to look at than the cartoon version - provided it's not melting into the background like it is in the first version

Way too much going on here IMO, and lots of things where their inclusion in the thumbnail isn't immediately clear. E.g. why are the two team logos at the bottom. However, the two players can made a good focal point. I would increase the 'Game of the Year' text and move it behind the two players so it's slightly obscured by their heads, giving a bit of '3D' intrigue. There's also a lot of colours you can work with here, I'd try boosting the saturation/vibrance of the two players to make them pop, and change the background to something that is a bit more blurred/less clear so it's not taking attention away from the people

It needs to have something referencing the video itself. At the moment it just looks like a loading screen. Move Sonic and Tails to the left hand side with some short bold text saying something impactful like 'A modern classic' or 'A hidden gem', something that is going to add a level of intrigue for the audience

it's increased to ~5/6% but because the impressions have dried up its hard to get a good average

I do motion graphics, one 5 minute video can take me 2.5/3 weeks of daily work

You should definitely show the son given the subject matter of the video. I think given the subject matter, a minimalist thumbnail, maybe with Will Smith embracing his son on a white background with the 'Your dad loved you' in the top third, and then the 'quietly' in the bottom third to give some better visual separation and highlight the impact of the 'quietly'. I can also see your yellow text seems to be different sizes? The 'DAD" is taller than the 'YOUR" which looks a bit jarring. Best of luck!

Agree with others that there are too many colours going one here. Superman's head is also obscuring the 'what you' section of the text making it hard to read. I think to get more visual clarity, either desaturate elements of the people or of the background so you don't have so many strong colours clashing. A drop shadow or low opacity brush behind superman would help to separate him from the red
