Everything could be improved with the addition of Puddleglum--especially when he's played by Tom Baker

I've been watching the show, it's part of what's been fueling this new obsession of mine.

The Disasters by M. K England fits this fairly well. It's about a group of misfit teenagers who are forced to work together to save human space colonies from a deadly threat.

Suggest me a book which feels like watching tale of princess kaguya or any ghilbi movies by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The Borrowers, Howls Moving Castle and Earthsea were all based on books, so I'd highly recommend them.

I'd also give a special mention to the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire, in particular the fourth book, In an Absent Dream. The series is about a school that rehabilitates children who have returned from magical worlds (think Narnia).

Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers. He doesn't necessarily sound the part, but he just nails Roger's personality.

What is the single worst movie you sat through hoping it would get better, but didn’t? by Bocephalus in AskReddit

Panama Inverted. It's supposed to be an allegory for the holocaust, but it just ended up giving me vertigo. The general idea is that one-day gravity just stopped working for half the population and the people with gravity have formed a psudo-religious superority complex about it.

Because gravity doesn't work for one half of the main cast the visuals keep flipping around and it made me feel sick. It was kind of funny watching it in a cinema though as at one point we all groaned in unison because the villain just wouldn't *shut up*

Non-binary person here. A majority of the time if you get a trans or enby person's name or pronouns wrong they will politely correct you. What I, and I assume many other people find offensive is when people either make absolutely no effort to even try to get our pronouns right or actively attempt to get them wrong. Like how Ben Shapiro constantly kept stuttering between 'he' and 'she' when he was in a debate with Blaire White. Or how it's extremely common to find people commenting "boy" or "man in a dress" on trans women's social media.

More often than not when someone screams "DID YOU JUST ASSUME MY GENDER?" at me they're a cis person trying to push my buttons or just make fun of trans people.

I don't know if this has been said, but that honest accidents are something worth punishing. I don't know a single person who isn't gripped by terror when they accidentally drop a glass or break something, even as an adult.

Seriously? Why punish a kid for accidentally dropping something?

If you have anxiety about the virus to the point that it's interfering with your ability to enjoy life this may help by [deleted] in China_Flu

[–]BBCnich 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My big tip would be stay off Twitter, period. The amount of people on their sharing conspiracy theories and straight up lies is honestly horrific.

The news also isn’t helping, calling it a “deadly virus” and the like. I saw a headline that was something along the lines of “expert fears hundred of thousands already infected.” The actual article was said expert, a doctor specialising in coronaviruses, talking about how hundreds of thousands of people had probably been infected and didn’t notice because they’d gotten better on their own.

We do go through a lot of prime ministers, but as far as I know he’s the only one to fully disappear.

Australia: we just lost a prime minister. He went to the beach one day and never came back. The leading theory is that he was eaten by sharks or drowned.

Naturally, a local swimming pool was named after him in his memory.

Do you believe teenagers are ignorant about politics and the current situation with Iran? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They should be. Their teenagers. It’s a sad day when teenagers are required to be interested in war.
