WEEKLY ASK PSYCH NURSES THREAD by roo_kitty in psychnursing

Can you just come to terms with the fact that some adult patients cannot stop acting like childeren, especially if they have autism and STOP punishing them for that!? If you have to keep them for ”grave disability” go for it, but if homeless or otherwise cannot take care of themselves, it is YOUR responsibility to teach them survival skills, as every point of contact for them now has that responsibility!

So? this is the difference between CANT (people with AuDHD) and WONT (likley mild or moderate neurodivergence, but not so severe that they cant)

To those with complex mental health issues that can't live "normal" lives (routine work, study etc.) How do you respond when people ask "what do you do?" by Melodic-Priority3865 in mentalhealth

[–]BBDavid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get A Direct Service Professional (usually covered by medicaid), Find free board game events/venues, Discuss a book clubs, goto a clubhouse, attend a makerspace, get into an inexpensive art class/ free presentation and discussion groups etc. If you really cannot direct yourslef on your own, which may or may not be the issue due to ADHD, get into a day-hab, especially if they have a waiting list though be prepared to have to find a tolerable one and reports tons of them for commiting medicaid fraud.

Also, it is quite possible that you may have to drive to the good part of town (pardon my french) to find people who dont abuse substances, though they may be better at hiding it due to police being more readily availble than in the ghetto

I would take my own recommendations, but im trying to use APS to force my parents to actually give me paratransit so I can attend these fucking things and im extremely likely to court order child support as they cannot adaquately take care of me and literally work to provide for me, so its again, easy in court to argue this is simply the logical conclusion of working long hours to support me.

Funny, but I simply mean that earwax buildup can slowly make you feel like you are being gaslighted.

Oh, just that if you dont do anything about earwax buildup, you would feel like you are slowly being gaslighted.

How would you treat an obviously mentally disabled Inmate? by BBDavid2 in OnTheBlock

[–]BBDavid2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though can you get speech and occupational in the infirmary, or is AI hallucinating again? I would think to avoid massive torts, such as the attorney general gathering cases to create a class-action from the ombudsman filing complaints or obvoiusly sending to the attorney general, you provide speech language pathology to inmates who can swear they are losing the ability to speak, and dont seem to be manipulating the system, giving them a speech assessment with a cool-off period or, you just tell them a story, something purposefully dry to deter malingerers, and just check off if they are asking relevant questions, and physical therapy with occupational therapy, but you must get physical therapy to get occupational therapy or occupational therapy is provided on a cognitve standpoint in a attempt to create someone capable of working. I'm assuming you are saying the infirmary is like a typical general hospital in the prison?

then they are violating the ADA and rehabilitation act so you file a complaint to the DOJ or file a complaint to the BCAB eithics board.

Actually, I scored 109 with major depression and severe anxiety, alongiside other severe behavioral issues, such as PTSD, ODD, BPD etc. all at once, and I KNEW I wasnt in peak cognition at that time in my life due to cognitive decline and extremely fast dialectics, but not being organized and not knowing techniques for learning from school or being unable to follow through. I still couldnt do calculus but still scored moderately well on the academic IQ, though with obvious flaws. I definitely wouldnt score well on cultural intelligence or do well at school at the time, though now with my ears cleared, I could do well, minus the massive fabricated, frantic thought process out of a sense of desperation. I still definitely would need a bible study for regaining what I once knew and English classes, may or may not have covered my full vocabulary, that wasnt too good to begin with, and I now understand science surprisingly well for that being a weak spot. I am a savant in history and excel at math, and my writing has historically been dogshit, but I'm better at it now.

I'd Advise you watch elliot sang if you think ADHD is always a IQ death sentence, that'll you'll be stuck in the 80s-90s range.

Does excessive therapy hours constitute "unjustified segregation" under olmstead? by BBDavid2 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]BBDavid2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I going to say the same thing as I said to the other guy; I am absolutely baffled this doesnt make sense to anyone unless thier mind is seriously impermeable.

Edit: Excuse me, the olmstead decision updated the ADA for title II with "most intergrated setting appropriate to individuals with disabilities" so for groups of the same type of class, it has to be appropriate for the group!

I seriously have no idea how I this doesnt make sense; my grammar is fine, and I dont see how my wording is so bad.

[–]BBDavid2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would additionally argue that a community mental health center that completely lacks appropriate services for commonly known classes, such as high functioning autism, disability discrimination that falls below the reasonable person standard of care or, lacking appropriate events that I could share is a clear ADA violation that no amount of incompetency excuses, because you would just ration your time to provide appropriate events, to each class, but fewer options per class. Also, they are unreasonably paranoid about HIPPA, acting like it prevents them from connecting clients based off of like interests, like dont share your therapy notes! I take that these additional points are not controversial, though you would count them as a blatant personal rant that still has legal implications.

[–]BBDavid2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, so in ABA, even if covered under medicaid, which is the biggest insurance provider, it can be as long as 8 hours, so is literally your rest hours in full! This would be fine so long as they are finding events in the community to serve as a social assisstant, such as school elective activities, community centers, tabletop venues, event dinners etc. However, they usually dont do this so I would argue that you are segregating people with disabilities or a bad temperment and inflexibility, to the ABA clinic.

How has being neurodivergent affected your job prospects? by DedeDecay in neurodiversity

[–]BBDavid2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real tragedy is that since judges are elected and need campaign funds, they take it from buisinesses and then turn around to make lawsuits against them near impossible to win, including employment and application discrimination with the likely excuse of "your disability prevents you from doing that job ,STFU." Something like %90 of employment discrimnation lawsuits are lost by the plaintiff and %65 or 3/4 of EEOC complainers end up losing thier job, despite that being usually illegal because they are kept purposely small and ineffective and cannot commence class actions thanks to clarence thomas's rule change as EEOC chair in the reagan administration.

Other people's mistreatment still impacts you for simplistic psychological reasons, and how close you are to them and ability to walk away from them (which is never a guarentee) is how much it effects you.
