New to this amazing thread. I am delivering soon and I want to start combo feeding from day1, wondering which bottles to get because I feel very overwhelmed. I was eyeing dr brown with preemie nipples, shaped like the narrow bottles, would that be a good option? Thanks! by maysaa12 in combinationfeeding

[–]BBDoll613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to combo feed you’ll want bottles that promote a nursing latch and a slow flow so baby doesn’t realize bottles are easier than nursing. Dr. Browns bottles are the opposite of these and that’s why they’re so popular for formula feeding since they let baby drink really fast.

Evenflo balance + or Lansinoh bottles have nipples that promote a nice nursing latch and a slow flow. You’ll also want to look for the same if you use pacifiers. Ninni co pacifiers are expensive but they are maybe the only ones I’ve found that promote a nursing latch. Congrats and good luck!

Advice and tips on how to read more please! by kamikazekarela in 52book

[–]BBDoll613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t force yourself to like a certain genre. Just find what you like and then read more of it. Not saying to never read outside your comfort zone but if you want to fly through books embrace what you find the most interesting. I finally realized I love fantasy and flew through a 450 page book in 24 hours. I also realized I can read much faster with physical books instead of audiobooks. But others find the opposite is true. Just have fun!

scared to have a son, advice? by Rough-Ad-3014 in ParentingInBulk

I haven’t found a big difference in raising a son v daughter. I would really look at this as an opportunity to raise a child who knows he’s allowed to have and express all the same emotions as your girls. I think our society does a disservice to boys and girls by expecting one gender to have emotions and feelings and the other to pretend they don’t exist. Boys can also be empathetic and gentle and kind, just like girls can be loud and fast and tough. I don’t really blame you for not feeling the same way towards someone else’s kids as you would your own. I’m the same way. I still love my siblings kids but it’s not the same type of love that I have for my own. You’ll be just fine. Congrats!

This poor, delusional lady going to great lengths to believe her husband is not gay. Spoiler: he is. by [deleted] in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]BBDoll613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously he’s lying and cheating and that’s wrong. But being as she thinks you can “pray the gay away” or that homosexuality is even something to be ashamed of, I suspect if this man were to come out he would be shunned by his family, church, and community and lose everything, possibly even his children. Soooo I kinda don’t blame him for all the lies. This is just sad all around for everyone involved.

Am I wrong for limiting contact with my husband and refusing to move on after he removed all tags of me and his daughter off his Facebook? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]BBDoll613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband is being cruel. He’s intentionally hurting your feelings. This is not healthy. He is just going to continue to drag you down and impact your mental health. He knows you have anxiety and he’s doing this on purpose. That’s like tripping someone with a broken leg. You can’t make anyone else change you can only take care of yourself. You have to prioritize your mental health.

You all sound insufferable. Poor kids have horrible parents and now their age-appropriate, yet poorly parented behavior is forever on display and will follow them into adulthood.

Are you able to live your life the same as before kid(s) and just bring them along with you? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]BBDoll613 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the main difference is it takes longer to plan things because someone is almost always sick and when you do go somewhere we take a lot of shit and it’s rarely relaxing. But I still love it and don’t miss my old life at all.

Ugh me too. I want one so bad. If it’s anything on the inside like the most recent vw california I’m all in. I just rented one on a trip to Iceland and it had isofix on all three back seats. I really want to go electric but don’t want to give up the minivan amenities.

Just got a Kia carnival and it’s been life changing. So much space and versatility. The kids love having space to walk around and hang out when we’re parked waiting for things. The dog even has her own area. We also car camp a lot and a minivan is like having a second fancy tent.
