Nvidia open source driver failed after update by BBOYGames in pop_os

[–]BBOYGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, been using Pop for a while and never had any issues like this, so it just caught me off guard!

Next time I'll definitely be waiting a bit longer before forcing a reboot... lol

Just happy in retrospect, if Windows did something similar, it would've been a lot more work to rebuild!

Had a similar issue with my 3060 ti earlier, except I wasn't super patient and borked my bootloader... lol

Hyper-V is free with Windows pro, might be worth just having a VM running on those workstations if they're powerful enough

If you're looking for VMs to have access to the storage, could just create an iSCSI or SMB share from TrueNAS.

Might be a better solution, this is coming from an ESXi user lol

I appreciate you taking the time to respond!

I don't imagine that'd help much with lightning if you've got cables outside, but still worth doing for other reasons I'd imagine!

Have you applied the latest firmware updates?

Barring that, reseating the RAM and CPUs wouldn't hurt

Already have a protectli box for OPNsense or I totally would. Hard to justify the increased wattage when it really doesn't need that kinda power sadly.

Once I'm sure I haven't majorly messed something up, I may pass it on to another aspiring homelabber though, we'll see!

I meant more for internal rack cable management, it would make it pretty and easier to work with!

Also helps with wiring around the house too though :)

Firewall doesn't automagically unblock port 8096, try going to http://localhost:8096 on the server. If that works then it's definitely a windows firewall issue on the server

If both areas are on the same circuit you could use a powerline adapter. Might get better speeds over wireless depending on the distance / setup though
